I agree, I wanted Trump to do just that in 2018.
This is close to the position of the country just prior to the 'civil war.' Folks say that a third party has never succeeded; that is not technically true. The Whigs were incapable of forming a useful public consensus due to inaction. Elements of that failed political body emerged, along with popular public support, they coalesced to form the Republican Party. That effective melding precipitated the war between the states because the Democrat Party, like the Dem Party of today, refused any compromise to preserve the union.
Must history repeat itself? It may become necessary, again, to preserve the Republic. Prez Bitem was asked today if, with a slim legislative majority and a 70% public sentiment that the country was moving in the wrong direction, if he would consider changing anything in his agenda. His response: nothing!
