A 50-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the Delphi murders of Libby German and Abigail Williams.
Richard Allen, 50, was taken into custody in Indiana on Friday. It remains unclear what exactly he has been charged with.
The girls were murdered in 2017 after arranging to meet a man on abandoned train tracks in the town of Delphi.
Their murders remained unsolved for five years. Allen's arrest is the first time his name has been publicly associated with the case.
Allen's connection to the girls remains unclear, and police say they will not hold any kind of press conference until Monday.
He was initially booked in to the county jail but was moved to a state facility shortly afterwards out of fears for his own safety.
In December, there was a flurry of excitement over the case after cops tied a fake Instagram profile of Anthony Shots to the investigation into the murders.
The person behind the account was Kegan Kline, who was 22 at the time of the murders and was arrested a month after them on suspicion of child porn possession.

I suspect I must be the only one who has never heard of these murders. Therefore I guess I stand alone in the nation for not being gripped by this crime.
“Arranged to meet a man” is news to me. Never saw that in any of the programs I watched.
Hope this is the guy!
I have been watching this for awhile. I DO NOT think they arranged to meet someone on the tracks. Guess it is possible...
You’re not from Indiana.
I never heard of them before either
It’s a Hoosier thing.
The part that stands out is that there was a picture of the killer and recording of his voice found on one of the girl’s phones.
That pic and audio has been played thousands of times on local news here, up til now with no suspect arrested.
If you saw the video it might jar a memory. The two girls were on an old trestle that lots of people liked to walk on for the view. On the other side of the trestle they see a man that worries them coming their way. They can’t keep going because the other side of the trestle leads to nowhere.
One of the girls captures video image of the man coming towards them and uploads it. The image looks like your typical sasquatch in the woods video so NASA and Disney try to enhance it as much as they can but still can’t get a good image to surface. Still there is enough on the video to makes out someone of the suspect.
I am familiar with the Marcus-Nelson Murders in NYC 1973, investigated by Lt. Theo Kojak of the NYPD.
I stopped walking my dog in some parks due to this story. Spooky.
This is pretty big news. Having somewhat followed this story, I’m sure I never heard there was an arrangement to meet a man on the team tracks. But honestly, it could have very well been the case. These were young girls and by all accounts innocents, but that does not mean they couldn’t have been lured.
Did you ever hear that they arranged to meet someone before thus article?
The one in the sun hat has haunted me ever since I read about their murders. Good they finally got him. I don’t think he’ll have a pleasant time in prison for the first three weeks.
Saw it on Youtube a few times
Who doesn’t love Kojak?
Meeting someone on abandoned railroad tracks sounds like a plot for a B-movie Halloween film.
Gripped the nation LOL, LOL, I haven’t heard a damn word about this either!!
