Aortic Dissection after COVID-19 Vaccination
Courageous Discourse with Dr. Peter McCullough & John Leake [Substack] ^ | 10/21/22 | Dr. Peter McCullough

Some Injuries are for Keeps

Yesterday I met a 42-year-old optometrist who six days after the second mRNA COVID-19 vaccination suffered a distal aortic dissection. He was healthy and was physically fit. He knew something was wrong when back pain and leg weakness developed resulting in severe effort intolerance on vacation. He rushed home, was hospitalized and underwent the appropriate diagnostics to determine the presence of an aortic aneurysm or widening of the aorta and then a discrete tear which blood flow now goes through the true lumen and a false lumen created by the dissection. This occurs in the outer third of the media or the muscular layer of the blood tube.

alt

In his mind this catastrophic event is due to the COVID-19 vaccine, and I agree. The mRNA and Spike protein produced by the mRNA circulates in blood on average two weeks, so it is freely able to deposit in the lining of blood vessels and the vascular media of major vessels.[i] [ii] Once present, the Spike protein damages cells and incites inflammation which is a destructive process driven by white blood cells, cytokines, and complement. It is known that the second injection is approximately 80-fold more reactogenic with fever, pain, myalgia, etc. As part of that response, there can be a major surge in blood pressure due to release of catecholamines or stress hormones.[iii] This increase in the change in pressure over the change in time for each heartbeat is the driving force to initiate the tear in the aorta. Once this happens, there is no turning back, the rip goes down the major blood tube and threatens the blood supply to the spinal cord, vital organs, and legs. Each patient is different, with some having external rupture resulting in death. Others require emergency surgery or endovascular stenting to restore blood flow to vital organs. In the case of the optometrist, he was managed conservatively with medications to control blood pressure. Data from the International Registry of Acute Aortic Dissection (IRAD) indicates he faces a 22% 3-year mortality rate and this is increased by his history of prior aortic aneurysm (HR, 2.17; 95% CI, 1.03 to 4.59; P=0.04).[iv] It is exactly this complication for which I have always advised patients with prior aortic abnormalities (aortopathies) to avoid COVID-19 vaccination. If you know someone who has died shortly after vaccination and they had antecedent back pain or a prior aneurysm, ask the family if there was an autopsy. This is important since aortopathies can be familial and other family members could be screened with imaging and genetic testing. This man’s life is indelibly changed because COVID-19 vaccination was for “keeps.”

A cautionary tale .....

I know several people who had aortic dissection. One made it to the ER ... last time his wife saw him alive, he was going around the corner to imaging. He had an external rupture and died right then and there.

The other aortic dissection was picked up on a screening & was monitored until it showed enlargement & then was successfully stented.

I had a spontaneous left carotid artery dissection in 2004. No stroke or sequela after 6 months on Plavix. Spent the night at Barrow Neurological Institute with lots of tests and imaging. The doctors couldn’t explain it, altho there is some thought that a virus may have weakened the arterial wall. I had the strangest cold about 2 weeks prior to this incident, so this explanation rings true to me.

Here's another paper, just published last month...

An autopsy case report of aortic dissection complicated with histiolymphocytic pericarditis and aortic inflammation after mRNA COVID-19 vaccination

The victim was in his 90s.

Some would say that's okay since he didn't have much longer to live, anyway.

That attitude infuriates me.

Me too. The lack of regard/respect for human life, regardless of age (womb to just prior to tomb) is a horrible reflection on our country (indeed, the world) at this point in time.

Aortic dissection happens so quickly it was the only procedure in our ER that required people to literally drop what they were doing and run to the OR, where scrubbing in was not required.

The few times I witnessed it, it was scary and impressive. Most patients don’t survive.

My wife had 2 coronary artery dissections. They have been attributed to the structure of her arteries and specific stressors at the time. There were no external issues (medication, disease, etc.).

This article sounds like a stretch. But, I got clots within two days of the vaccine…so I tell everyone to be cautious. I am an example of how this crap is not good for you.

My wife has had two SCADs.

It’s kind of funny to watch the cardiac residents freak out over them. Then they do all sorts of tests two days later and they can’t “see” anything.

Even if this may be a “stretch”, it’s a possibility. I’m at the point where if Dr. McCullough issues a ‘caution’, that’s good enough for me.

Russ, the husband of a relative, went to the ER thinking he was probably having a heart attack. Most of the time, you go in, maybe get admitted, but generally, you leave with the person you took to the hospital, especially when they have no known previous issues & are in seemingly good health. It was quite the shock for my relative to take Russ, kiss & wave goodbye as he was wheeled around the corner, off to imaging, then never see him alive again. I figured any aortic dissections that rupture are so fast & catastrophic, that they weren’t survivable unless it did happen on an operating table.

Hope you and your wife are doing well after your serious issues.

Thanks. She is doing well.

The heart issues were nothing compared to the pancreatic cancer and colon issues.

And like a good watch…she keeps on ticking. Prayer and excellent surgeons work!

We definitely believe in the power of prayer & have been blessed with excellent surgeons & cardiologists, too.
