Got free ticket to their first game in DC stadium in1961 when it opened...
I was, at that time a lifelong Giants fan...
Switched. In 1962 when I got my first 5 seats 3rd row from the overhang upper deck, 40 yard line... Also, we were literally sitting with our feet on the Redskins bench and they could hear everything we said to or about them...
In 1963, at the old M street office, I added 5 more, looking ahead to grandchildren... Till they got to about 7-years old, that 5 was used (and paid for) by friends at work...
Also used to ride the Redskin special train to Philly, NYC, and, once, to Pittsburg...
That is so cool. I remember season tickets were just about impossible to come by back in the 70s and 80s. The word was that the only way to get them was to inherit them in a relative’s will. And you had ten of them? Wow!
I only lived in the DC area for a few years as a teenage Navy brat. We had just come from three years overseas in the years when there was no AFN TV over there, so no NFL games.
It was easy for us to adopt the Redskins as our team. My dad occasionally got tickets through colleagues at the Pentagon and I got to go to RFK a couple of times - major fun!
What was the Redskins special train? That sounds like a blast.
