You can no longer survive without wood and things made from wood products than you can without eating..OH WAIT, lots of foods have wood products within them.

Just went there and scrolled down the list, and it convinced me of the opposite of your assertion. All it showed was wood products.

As for foods having wood products within them, if you would provide a list of those, I’d studiously avoid them. Just because they throw some wood into some soup doesn’t mean I can’t get soup without wood in it. In fact, I can make my own with barley, potatoes, tomatoes and onions, with or without chicken parts, and get along just fine without any sawdust added.

As for my laptop, that you tell me to get off of, I already bought it, so getting off of it would not change the presence or absence of wood in it. It’s brand new and has a nice, expansive hard drive and RAM and all sorts of neat gadgets on it. I really like it, except for the numbers on the mouse pad that I keep tripping over with my fingers and inadvertently adding to my text. Even assuming that it can’t operate without the presence of some wood thigamajig or other in it, I’ll tolerate the thigamajig and get on with my life.

I have nothing against wood. I just doubt that it’s essential to modern life. It’s helpful to have around, but so are dogs and cats (the non-feral kind). I’d also love to own a horse. But life would go on with or without any of those things, and my fourth floor apartment doesn’t have room for a horse. Sheep? Sure.

Now go do a search on foods that have wood products in them.

I bet you have had all of them..or at least most of them.

As for your laptop? It is made of HARD plastic, its chemical make up is from wood derivatives.

Even the clothes on your body, if synthetic materials, has been made form wood derived materials.

You, myself, and everyone in this modern world CAN NOT survive without the loggers, miners and farmers.

If your apartment has sheet rock (wallboard) then its coating is from wood. The paint that covers that wall board has wood derivatives in it. Your furniture, if has synthetic materials, most likely wood derivatives.

Glad to have given you the lessons. Now you can educate your others.

BTW..a healthy well managed young vigorous forest, consumes about 6 tons of pollution from the air per acre each year. It also produces as much, and releases as much, in oxygen each year.

“Glad to have given you the lessons. Now you can educate your others.”

OK. Hey, others! Wood is nice, but not essential. Some things you take for granted may have wood derivatives, but BFD. CRZ just convinced me.

“BTW..a healthy well managed young vigorous forest, consumes about 6 tons of pollution from the air per acre each year. It also produces as much, and releases as much, in oxygen each year.”

All the more reason not to do so much logging. You can get your wood derivatives from cleared away underbrush and also prevent forest fires, and trim branches, too, and log trees in decline, rather than felling a healthy young tree. This will also minimize risk of forest fires. Smoky will be so happy. The trees will still be there, cleaning pollution and separating carbon dioxide and monoxide into oxygen and carbon, and hanging onto the carbon. Good for everyone, except George of the Jungle.

Yours is a rather typical of city people who have very little, if not no understanding of forestry, silvaculture, and forest eco systems.

“All the more reason not to do so much logging”

Wood and wood resources are absolutely essential to the health and well being of humans..always has been, always will be.

Stay in the city.

Now that you haven’t made your case, you assert baldly.

Trees are essential to the planet. They convert carbon dioxide to oxygen and photosynthesize. They filter out pollutants and prevent flooding and erosion. 100%. But logging is less vital now than it once was. Petroleum has made horses obsolete, and thereby reduced pollution, and has also reduced the need for wood, and also made whaling obsolete.

Global warming is a load of obsolete horse-sh!t designed to empower the elites who have too much power already. There is no way that advanced and developing societies can make do without petroleum and natural gas. We could get along quite well without cutting down a lot of trees. Some trees, however, would have to be harvested just for the sake of the trees, and as long as they’re cut down, we might as well use them for whatever it is that they are still useful for, such as making paper and sawdust.

How do it get the feeling you are mentally challenged?

In that reply you went from a known fact (They convert carbon dioxide to oxygen and photosynthesize. They filter out pollutants and prevent flooding and erosion) to a rant about horses, whaling, Gorebull warming..etc.

Listen child. When you get 55 years of personal experience in forestry, and nearly 400 plus years of ancestry experience in the taking care of the woods on this continent, then come on back and we will talk.
