About 20 years ago I was in Chicago on business. I pulled into a McDonald’s to grab a cup of coffee. The drive-through had a long line so I went inside. Predictably I was the only white guy in place. Then I started to notice things. The restaurant was immaculate. There were no halfway down pants etc. I turned around after I got my coffee and noticed five tables of young men playing chess. I paused at the condiment station and glanced around. About that time a very large black man came up to me with a giant smile on his face and welcomed me to his store. With a knowing look he said to me “We are trying to raise them right.” I said “Looks to me like you’re doing a fine job.”
I later found out that he was very prominent in the area and had a good reputation. Got chastised by my local business associates for going to the “bad” part of town. I told them I think I got into the right part of town!
FWIW The Mc Donald’s is 6 city blocks from the office building that the offices we were using was in.
I’d really like someone in the press to push her to complete her thought… McDonalds CEO needs to educate himself on WHAT?

McDonald’s moved out of Oak Brook a few years ago. They stupidly sold their Oak Brook complex when consultants told them younger workers would not travel to the suburbs.

I’m unfamiliar with the West Loop area, but it must not be as safe, clean, or monied as Oak Brook is or was when I lived in western burbs.
