A relative of mine spent some time in a big city hospital after a car accident. Let’s say that his name is Jim Edwards. But his brother told me to ask for Frank Smith when calling the hospital.

The brother explained. This hospital gave every incoming patient a fake name. Gang bangers would often call the hospital to locate targets they only wounded, but did not kill. The bangers wanted to finish the job. The fake names made it more difficult for them.
