Walmart expands abortion coverage for its employees in the wake of Roe v Wade decision
CNBC ^ | August 19, 2022 | Melissa Repko

Walmart on Friday told employees that it will expand abortion and related travel coverage, according to an internal memo. The change comes about two months after the Supreme Court struck down the federal right to access the procedure.

Effective immediately, Walmart’s health care plans will cover abortion “when there is a health risk to the mother, rape or incest, ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage or lack of fetal viability,” according to the memo to employees, which was reviewed by CNBC.

Employees and their family members who are insured through Walmart will also have travel costs covered, if they cannot access a legal abortion within 100 miles of their location, according to the email, which was sent by Walmart’s Chief People Officer Donna Morris.

Walmart is the nation’s largest employer with about 1.6 million employees and is headquartered in Arkansas, where strict abortion limits have already got into effect. The company’s health care expansion comes months after Target, Apple and others broadened or reaffirmed abortion coverage. Still, Walmart’s policy decision is symbolic: The retailer’s more than 4,700 stores are located in small towns and larger cities alike, with about 90% of Americans living within 10 miles of a location.

Last month, the company’s CEO, Doug McMillon, sent an employee-wide email saying that Walmart was “working thoughtfully and diligently to figure out the best path forward” after the Supreme Court decision. Walmart at the time didn’t say what changes the company was considering.

A 10-lb. bag of potatoes now cost $8.00 at WalMart. With this abortion policy that price will double. All “business operating expenses” are now-pass-throughs to the consumer.

Lets put the politics in this current Governor “Trump Hater” Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas.

Does he have an opinion on this?

The next Republican Governor of Arkansas Sarah Huckabee Sanders does she have an opinion about it?

Did ANYONE... ANYONE read beyond the headline?

ANYONE?

I know the vast majority of the dumbs can’t read the story or process anything beyond the headline, and that is precisely what CNBC wanted with this, but just read a few sentences down.

Walmart is NOT allowing for unrestrictive elective abortions on demand. They are covering in very limited circumstances: “when there is a health risk to the mother, rape or incest, ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage or lack of fetal viability”

Other than the rape/incest category, I can’t think of a place ANYWHERE where even the strictest abortion laws would apply. In ectopic pregnancies, the unborn child isn’t viable. Same for miscarriage or lack of fetal viability. So those procedures don’t implicate abortion statutes at all.

If the mother’s life is at risk, there typically has always been an exception there.

These are the very rare exceptions that aren’t implicated at all.

So, again, the headline and knee jerk reactions don’t necessary back up to reality.

Walmart was “working thoughtfully and diligently to figure out the best path forward in order for our employees (male or female) to be able to access reproductive services. /s

OR

Walmart was “working thoughtfully and diligently to figure out the best path forward to continue to be able to help all of our employees kill their babies. /s

The problem is that “health risk to the mother” can be interpreted so broadly that a claimed mental health risk of sadness can be used.

The 3 hardest things to change peoples minds about.

1. To get people who don’t believe in God to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

2. To get people who don’t believe abortion is murder to accept that the baby they are willing to kill is a human being.

3. To get people who hate Donald Trump to see what a truly GREAT president he has been and will be AGAIN.

We all know the catch-all phrase "endangered Health of the mother" will be used in the "mental health" context, where some tramp/trollop/cheater has gotten knocked up, and wants to do away with the inconvenient outcome of her actions.......period.

Murdering children for the convenience of the mother is always the easy way out for irresponsible acts, just as is pervasive in ALL irresponsible acts that injure/kill others in the "Just-Us System" today.

health risk to the mother

Unfortunately, in the U.S. "health risk" has been defined down to include "the blues". California did this with abortion back in the '60s, and the floodgates opened. More recently, states with "medical marijuana" had no shortage of doctors willing to prescribe for any reason.

It depends on what that term means in their insurance documents.

The current Walmart coverage says almost the exact same thing as the revised language without the rape/incest language.

“China has government mandated abortions.”

Not any more.
They want women to have 3 children.

Though abortion is still ubiquitous and readily available.
