Johnson & Johnson will stop selling its talcum-based baby powder worldwide and replace the product with its existing cornstarch version starting next year, the consumer products giant said late on Thursday.
The move comes after thousands of lawsuits from women in recent years who claimed using the powder gave them either ovarian cancer or mesothelioma, a cancer that strikes the lungs and other organs. The company insists, and medical research on talc also indicates, that the baby powder is safe and doesn't cause cancer.

Guess I’ll have to borrow it from Malcolm.
Cowards
The stuff must be bad if they won’t even sell it in 3rd world countries anymore.
We even survived without car seats or even sea belts. With a long line of BB guns behind me, I still have both eyes. The welts heal pretty fast.
Stores in Florida panhandle and south Alabama stopped selling baby powder with talcum almost two years ago. The cornstarch substitute is nowhere as good.
New order....after decades of abuse..how is it new order?
Cornstarch based powder works better...
Hand chalk for pool is still made of talc. Get some at your billiards supply store and grind it up for the baby (easier to use that way).
It’s true we survived growing up accidentally not having all that crap. I’d hate mom and dad for putting me at risk but some of that 💩 wasn’t invented yet.
Are they saying talc based powder was bad for the baby????….or bad for women who misuse for themselves??
“or bad for women who misuse for themselves??”
Bad for women who know hungry lawyers.
There is just too much that is unknown. I have had Ovarian cancer death in my family. This gave me the ability to get the free BRCA test because Ovarian cancer is a big red flag..much more than breast cancer. (so is being an Ashkenazi Jew which I am not.)
I was negative. My DNA tests indicate increased risk for ovarian cancer due to various variations.
Then last year they thought I had ovarian cancer. All the Doctors were sure that was the problem ..although they didnt come right out and say I had it because you have to wait for the pathology report
No ovarian cancer. However, had I used talcum powder as an adult maybe it would have switched on.
The genetic risk is there. It just didn’t switch on yet for me.
This talcum powder racket is probably the greatest Bambulance Shyster scam of all time. Just a bunch of trashy legal beagles playing Win The Lottery with other people’s money.
Anti Monkey Butt powder is still made with talc.
How about all the other baby powder manufacturers. Are they going to continue selling talcum powder now that the big bucks boys are being skinned.
I dont agree with this idea. Do you think asbestos can give you cancer? talc was sometimes tainted with asbestos
so you may ask why didnt more babies get cancer as adults.
Well..maybe they did.
But I always keep in mind a post someone made here that knows a person who works for the American Cancer Society. I can’t remember the details but the person said Doctors involved with research more and more believe that you have a genetic switch that gets turned on..and here is the part that stuck with me:
she said you could swim in asbestos and if you don’t have the quirk that switches you arent going to get cancer
I am not sure I believe that hyperbole but I get the idea behind the statement
Well I’m glad you’re healthy!!!..Good news!
I’ve never thought about using talc powder, except on my babies
I grew up with it a staple in the house. So did my 3 girls . Allasudden it’s causing cancer and folks are dropping like flys? My wife insists on her daily dusting after her shower.
