Conmen have been ripping off fans outside Chicago sports venues for years. Posing as parking attendants, they lure in drivers, take their cash, and often guide them into illegal parking spots. Those fans later find parking tickets from the city on their cars.
Nothing stopped the men we uncovered running an illegal parking scam - not even the different teams of officers patrolling the city streets outside Guaranteed Rate Field. The scammers are so bold they continued preying on White Sox fans - selling fraudulent parking passes last season, right in front of authorities.
What happened was a bit different from other schemes. As he approached the official White Sox parking lots, around Pershing Road and Princeton Avenue, several men wearing bright colored vests approached his car. They appeared to be parking attendants and asked Chessare for $30 to park.
"One of the three actually stood in front of our car and blocked us," said Chessare. "The guy had a big wad of tens. A big wad of tens."
He said one conman waved him in just like a legitimate parking attendant.

Across the board lazy ass cops, prosecutors and judges. Each one is a problem.
Who attends sporting events in areas accessible by these mutants anyway? They couldn’t even get to Giants Stadium in the NJ Meadowlands...
Why does anybody go to and support professional sports anymore anyway.
Chicago Mayor Laurie Lightfoot and the George Soros prosecutor Kim Foxx use the preferred pronoun “entrepreneur”.
Sounds like teamwork.
The scammers are friends of the police. Promise.
I read about a guy in Britain that created and maintained a parking lot of his creation next to a zoo. He somehow slipped between the notice of the bureaucracy and made his own job.
He paved it, lined it, and kept it clean. It is estimated that he made off with about $10 million dollars over the thirty odd years he kept his job.
“ The other remaining issue is the crime being committed on the streets outside the ballpark. Last October, we asked police outside the ballpark, if they plan to do anything about the scammers operating right in the open. The officers just rolled up their windows and drove away.”
It’s Chicago, the cops are probably getting a cut of the action.
This is one of the reasons why Benjamin Franklin and John Adams said democracy/freedom only works where the people are bound by a moral code.
What's gone on in Chicago and other cities large and small is what is now going on in the nation as a whole with the emergence of the Swamp.
In fact, since Obama's election, the Swamp has become something more. It has become what might be called The Beast (not necessarily the Beast of Revelation, but such is possible, guess).
I won’t go back. Last time I went on vacation we parked in a street, in 15 minutes my car was towed. I asked an officer where the No parking sign was and he took me about 1/2 a block away and there was a small sign almost completely hidden by a branch.
I went to the Impound yard (after an expensive taxi ride for my family) and they had A path maze set up for the HUNDREDS of people paying to have their cars freed. It ran like clockwork, like a well oiled machine.
I paid something like 2-3 hundred dollars (back in the day) for the fine and tow in cash and I was out of there in minutes. Before I left there were another 24 or so new people in line. It was like a conveyor belt.
A total scam from a corrupt city and I have kept my promise for almost a quarter of a century.
PS even though I avoid it like a plague I’ve noticed it’s getting harder to do. The city has increased the distance they are charging tolls around it. The last time we went on vacation north to Wisconsin we were probably 30 miles outside the city center and yet they had us pay fairly significant tolls. It’s like an evil hungry octopus reaching its tentacles out.
It sure does sound like teamwork, the city passively collects good money from each con.
Chicago is letting these hustlers earn the city at least $75.00 from each of the conned drivers, the city is the big winner.
One large domino in Chicago has started to topple with the recent announcement by the Chicago Bears that they’re leaving the city.
Where is Lightfoot?, you may ask.
10% for the big guy makes things nice and quiet.
The Chicago Way
White Sox ballpark is the shadiest ballpark I’ve ever been to. Took a bus from Michigan to go one year and didn’t have to worry about the parking. But it was not a pleasant area.
Don’t “do business” with ghetto-ish black males
Then wait for the video showing you as “racist” and the Crump lawsuit to follow
For those readers who are not from Illinois, it should be noted that Guaranteed Rate Field, the home of the Chicago White Sox, is actually owned and operated by the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority.
By allowing con artists to run wild outside of the stadium, the police are interfering with another government agency.
Hilarious fact: when discussions were held to replace the original Comiskey Park, which opened in 1910 and was showing its age due to neglected maintenance and structural repairs, weeks and months were spent studying the relocation of the new stadium to the suburbs. When the dust settled, the new stadium was built within a few feet of the old ballpark that was due to be demolished. One of the constants in all of the discussions was the undesirable location of the old stadium in a post industrial wasteland surrounded by public housing projects.
It all makes plain sense with a third world decoder ring.
Maybe the team and the mayor has special task force to game the system for more revenue. If the city wanted it to stop, it would not be in their best interests....
