Good, they’ll be out of my way at the gas station and gas prices will go down too.

Lately I’ve been listening to quite a few interviews with Jacki Deason (Jacki Daily show/Blaze TV and various podcasts) on several Youtube outlets. She is a very knowledgeable expert and well spoken about all things energy, “alternative” green energy vs conventional oil, NG and coal, the foreign money donating to green causes and anti-fracking etc. I’m learning so much, would highly recommend! She’s had a couple of very interesting interviews with Allie Beth Stuckey on her YouTube channel. https://youtu.be/M9e5wP52UC8

Biden’s hyper regulation to essentially shut off conventional energy (oil, natural gas)and destroy that industry is an absolute disaster. Electric cars (lithium batteries) are dangerous because lithium is so unstable, and there just isn’t enough available of the rare earth minerals (which China controls most of anyway) for us to actually convert to green energy, at least for now. We here on FR know this, but it’s been interesting to hear more details, facts, statistics and clear explanations of everything.

The used car market is gonna go crazy—while the new electric vehicles sit on the dealer lots.

As coal mines go belly-up, guess who is BUYING THEM UP?

Now, think for a moment.

Why would someone buy up a property that had coal when coal will become verboten in a few years?

Unless you KNEW in advance that eventually coal would HAVE to make a comeback...............................

Some of us live in cold northern climates—electric cars are definitely not ready for northern winters.

Some folks will have to get stuck on the highway before they figure out that the advertised gas mileage is a lot less than the real gas mileage during the winter.

I noticed that the “studies” don’t even try to measure the impact of sub twenty degree temperatures on the electric car range. I guess the consumers will have to figure that out the hard way.

;-)

I am retired and could buy an electric vehicle—tomorrow—for cash.

I refuse to do so.

The demand just isn’t there. I’ve heard the number of EV’s Ford sold last year was 27,000.

What are the electric utilities doing to support this?

Yes forgot to mention that in my previous post. If we are already concerned about rolling blackouts across the nation’s power grid this summer, how in the world do they think we will have the capacity to provide the extra electricity so these cars will be able to be charged? Especially as we continue to kill conventional energy such as oil, natural gas and coal?

Oh, I forgot, the electricity comes out of the magic wall plugs, from the tiny little fairy factories inside the walls using their magic wands and pixie dust to manufacture the magic clean electricity! I think this is what some people honestly believe! Leftists are so disconnected from reality ! (I’m talking about the leftists young people and suburban Karens who probably believe this, I know the ones at the top are just trying to destroy the U.S.)

Child, you have penis envy, although in this case the “penis” is “judgment”.

If you are happy with an EV, jolly. They work for SOME people and those people are welcome to BUY them. It is government strangling gas production and pretending the electricity for EVs comes from unicorn farts that pisses people off!

I own a truck to haul horses and trailers. I live where 100 miles is “local”. My needs don’t match EVs. I don’t want GOVERNMENT trying to force me into their approved “asshole living in SF” lifestyle, destroying oil production, driving prices through the roof and insisting I just need to “go green” to live in Nirvana!

Ford will soon announce in conjunction with power companies the free installation of 220v home charging stations, saving customers something north of $25,000.

Power companies will announce they have completed the transition to wind and solar.

People will soon announce they love rolling brown outs, while secretly wishing for a week long blackout to save on their electric bills which now consume more than 50% of their disposable income.

Is that true if you are feeding the grid or only when you have a backup battery installed?

Well, we dont fall into your category. We could afford to buy many of these EVs, but as my husband and I are both engineers, can think and reason, and know the pitfalls of these vehicles, we won’t be buying one unless we are absolutely forced to.

But you go right ahead and insult everyone on this thread because you are so smart, with it, and cool. I guarantee you many on this thread and this forum are very well off, hard working, educated, and could afford to buy these if they thought there was a good reason to. But if it makes you feel cool to insult people you dont know, have at it. I notice you are on an FR thread during the middle of the day insulting people instead of actually doing work at your amazing business on a weekday so I suspect maybe you are just a troll.

It's not just the power generating capacity shortfall. The secondary distribution system is going to be a huge bottleneck.
On average, there is one secondary pole-mounted transformer per city block which serves roughly 10 homes. The transformers come in different sizes ranging from 10 kVA to 100 kVA with the most common being 50kVA. A typical 50–70 kVA transformer, which can deliver around 200 - 300 Amperes is sufficient for ten homes with 200 A panels.
A Level One home charger (120 VAC) requires 15-20 amps and will replenish 3-4 miles of driving distance per hour of charge.

A Level Two home charger (240 VAC) requires 80 amps. This translates to 9-52 miles of driving distance per hour of charge.

A Level Three charger (commercial buildings and charging stations, 480 VAC) Level 3 charger draws 300 amps and provides 170 miles of driving distance per hour of charge.

So, it doesn't take many of those homes to charge EVs on a single secondary transformer to significantly increase the load on the transformer. Three or four EVs will start to cause problems.

Undersized distribution transformers that are overloaded will have shortened lives. Guess what happens when all the commuters in your neighborhood arrive home from work and plug in their EVs? Voltage sag. A new Secondary Distribution System design is required that considers the presence of EV chargers by sizing its components in the way that considers the normal behavior of the EV drivers (normal charging patterns) and avoiding the control of the EV charging.
