It’s one of the worst betrayals conservatives have ever suffered at the hands of the Republican Party.
On Tuesday, the House passed the so-called Respect for Marriage Act with a stunning 47 Republican votes and the blessing of GOP House leaders, and the bill is now rapidly gaining traction with Republicans in the Senate, shocking even Democrats and the liberal media.
The Respect for Marriage Act would enshrine same-sex “marriage” into federal law, override duly enacted laws and constitutional amendments in 35 states, require the federal government to recognize polygamy or any other redefinition of marriage that a state may come up with, and open the door to a wide range of new threats to religious freedom.
The bill, largely intended as a Democratic messaging stunt before the midterms, is nothing less than a declaration of war on the family and Christians and a gift to the radical LGBT movement and Democrats’ far-left base.
Conservatives could naturally expect that the representatives they elected to defend their values against just this kind of attack would reject the woke Respect for Marriage Act out of hand.
But as of Monday, five Republican senators (Sens. Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Rob Portman of Ohio, Thom Tillis of North Carolina, and Ron Johnson of Wisconsin) have indicated that they will support the bill when it comes before the Senate, already giving Democrats half of the GOP votes they need to get it to Joe Biden’s desk and hand him his first major legislative victory on LGBT issues.
And Republican Senate leaders have made clear that they currently have no plans to oppose the bill…

Are there not enough homosexual and transgender groomers in schools? Not enough homosexual adoption and sodomizing of children? Not enough AIDS, Monkeypox, and STDs?
Bush League Republicans ARE Assistant Democrats.
DOPA = Defense of Perversion Act
There are only two ways we will be able to return the nation to Biblical principles. One is a Great Awakening, with 200 million conversions to Christ. The other is replacing the Republic with a right-wing dictatorship on our terms, a la Pinochet or the recent coup in Myanmar, though once we cross that Rubicon the blood will flow, and there is no turning back.
Are you serious?
3rd way, the economy and everything collapses. Liberals will starve 1st.
First and foremost this is utterly unconstitutional and, thus, illegal.
This is a state’s issue and they can argue about it until the cows come home.
Patriots need to CALL OUT these corrupt politicians on their betrayal of their oath of office, the Constitution, and the American People.
NOT breaking!
I don’t believe in political parties. They should be outlawed. The people are the ultimate party. Every law and government action should be based on strict interpretation of the constitution.
I doubt that the current USSC will uphold Congress interfering with the States like this.
Social conservatives have always been the redheaded stepchildren of the Republican Party. They want our votes, but not our values.
To suggest a human solution is folly.
Christians who got the gov’t into defining marriage started this nonsense.
Gov’t has no role in defining marriage. Government can issue documents that allow people to declare who has power of attorney over their affairs and other such things.
That is all.
I’m sure you will be criticized by some for the dictator remark but privately I have thought along similiar lines for a few decades.
The midterms are going to be glorious! - burn it all down!
Prevailing political breezes are not going to prevail. This will generate a tornado sufficient to bring down McConnell and his merry band of Vichy cowards.
I don’t know about the other sinators but Tillis is in up to his ears with green energy deals in NC. Which explains his going along with everything the dims have put forward.
Soon we’ll see people marrying their dogs and cats, their goats, their farm animals.
And deriving benefits from it.
Society is so sick. I just wish it would all implode.
I don’t like it either. But, it reminds me of Spain. Franco was a ruthless dictator. But, he was fighting communists trying to take over the country. And they were evil. Playing nice, would not have worked. I only hope we never have to meet this evil with an opposite evil.
