A video posted to Reddit purportedly showing a UFO flying over rural western Alberta has people wondering what exactly was caught on tape.
“Filmed June 22nd, 2022 on my Brother-in-law’s worksite in Alberta. The video moves off the subject for a few seconds as he’s actually watching with his eyes. Keen to hear people’s thoughts,” the user that posted the video wrote.
It was shot somewhere near the Brazeau Dam, which is approximately 264 kilometres southwest of Edmonton.

What kind of bird?
Birds? Its some kind of light. Birds don’t look like lights.
Good grief,
It’s BIRDS, flying into and out of sunbeams.
Any prairie kid who grew up outside the city could tell you that.
Talk about false witness!!
Ball lightning, maybe?
I’m gonna have to go with Mormons.
What kind of birds?
Your story reminds me of when I was about eight or nine back in the early 70s. We lived in Illinois and one evening I was looking up at the sky and suddenly saw what appeared to be a star quickly move from one spot in the sky to another and then stop dead. Soon, another one did the same thing, followed by another. All were at first sitting perfectly still, then moved extremely fast (several degrees of arc in less than a second), and then sat perfectly still at their new locations. A few years later I was sitting in a theater watching Close Encounters of the Third Kind, when the final scene at Devil’s Tower began. There’s a moment when several UFOs join together in formation and disguise themselves by imitating the Big Dipper. My jaw dropped, because it was so much like what I saw.
There’s no reason to doubt you.
Plane flying with landing lights on?
I have seen those little led lights on kids shoes and toys that only light up when the kid or toy is moving. Fasten a few to some birds and turn them loose.
Dronufo
A drone with lighta attached, flying at dusk. As the operator is apparently unknown, it is in fact, a UFO.
Plane flying with landing lights on?
Thats exactly what I thought. Would a plane flying through a storm have those lights on? It would have been nice if the camera stayed on the thing.
Seriously? Weeks later and on an anonymous forum you expect an ornithologist’s explanation from a random commenter?
I’ll amuse my self momentarily here
Likely swans or snow geese, both of which are white, and capable of the aerobatics shown, in combination with the common occurrence of shafts of light on the prairies. Distance, light and perspective can play really nasty tricks with what you THINK you see.
I have seen similar events, and some even more remarkable and odd. For example, I witnessed a streak across the sky on the prairie that covered the horizon to horizon span in less than thirty seconds. Logic dictates that it was an Earth grazing meteor, but some folks WANT it to be something else...
Nothing unusual here, just some birds
Swamp gas reflecting off a weather balloon
Flying sharks with lasers on their heads.
