LOL, so true
“...it’s become an ordeal to be asked to play Take on me night after night.”
Saw Huey Lewis and the News a few years ago. Before he played “The Power of Love”, he told about being asked to compose a song for “Back to the Future”, and said he was proud of his work, “but I had NO IDEA I’d be playing this song EVERY DAY FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!” It was a great concert, and he was a good sport.
I am reminded of “Garden Party” when people want only the oldies played.
I play the oldies 20’s - 40’s on guitar. Great music!
Playing in a band with someone you don’t like is a buzz kill.
I love the music of RUSH, and love that they were best friends, worked hard, avoided the “rock-star” attitudes of women and drugs (well - too much drugs).
In one interview Geddy was asked a question about Alex. Geddy paused for a second. “Oh - sorry. I haven’t used his real name in 40 years so it took me a second. We all have like 10 nicknames for each other.”
How far FR has fallen that there is not a direct link to the song up already.

This was a huge hit. Although I had to listen to know what it was. Great song.
The funny thing is that because of the similarity in names, a lot of people associate it not with A Ha, but with another Scandinavian band.
Thanks for the link. I have heard that song on the radio, just never heard what the title was. Remember when DJs would tell you the song title and artist after they played a song?
As for the video, I’ll bet I haven’t watched an hour total of MTV in my life. Just never cared for it.
ABBA?
I can imagine they get tired of it, but it’s made them a bloody fortune.
Yep. I remember good DJ’s and when radio was fun. Nothing is the same anymore.
It kind of sounds like them.
Is “symphonic pop” anything like “classical rock”?
I agree with the guy who said by themselves the song and video are forgettable
Together they make fir one of the best music videos ever. Thus the reason 40 years later it still gets ranked as one of the top of all time
To this day I personally think it is one of the greatest pop videos ever, and I like Country and classic Rock, detest pop music. The reason I dislike modern country music is it has become pop music.
It seems pretty impossible that you havent heard the song, at least in the background of a restaurant or bar.
A-ha is a guilty pleasure of mine. I have most of their albums in a playlist and every now and then I'll go to it. It always yields up some surprisingly good stuff.
Might as well say, "Now's a good time to go to the bathroom or go get a beer."
