Well gee, if the Earth is closer to the sun in January then in July, why isn’t it warmer in January?

I just can’t figure this out...

It’s the tilt of the earth’s axis. The northern hemisphere is tipped toward the sun I’m in June, so it’s warmer.

In December the Southern Hemisphere is tipped toward the sun. So it’s warmer for them.
