And Why Are They Leaving the Democrats?
Hispanic working class (noncollege) voters are emerging as an Achilles heel for the Democrats. Here are some facts about Hispanic working class voters that help bring this challenge for Democrats into focus.
In the 2020 election, Hispanic voters moved sharply away from the Democrats. Both Catalist and States of Change (forthcoming) data agree that it was around a 16 point pro-GOP margin shift (two party vote). States of Change data indicate this shift was heavily driven by Hispanic working class voters, whose support for the Democrats declined by 18 points. This pattern could be seen all over the country, not just in states like Florida (working class Hispanic support down 18 margin points) where they fell short but also in states they narrowly won (Arizona down 22 points; Nevada down 15 points).
Hispanic voters are overwhelmingly working class, around three-quarters in the States of Change data—higher than among blacks and much higher than among Asians. The working class character of Hispanic voters is even higher in key states like Nevada and Arizona.
Also in Civiqs data, just 13 percent of Hispanic working class voters say their family financial situation has gotten better in the last year, compared to 49 percent who say it’s gotten worse and 37 percent who say it’s remained the same.
In the latest Economist/YouGov poll, Hispanic voters give Republicans a 9 point lead over Democrats on the generic Congressional ballot. While the poll doesn’t break down Hispanics by education (hardly any polls do), it’s a reasonable supposition, given data summarized above, that Republicans’ lead among working class Hispanics would be even larger. (Some polls show Democrats still retaining a lead among Hispanics on this measure, but even those are down drastically from Democratic performance in 2020.)

Most of the Hispanic members of my extended family are very religious. VERY!
This is just my observation, but I think the best way for the Democrats and other leftist to keep their Hispanics on the plantation is to outlaw the Catholic Church.
They (mostly) came from Socialist hell holes and see what’s coming if Democrats have their way.
I expect if this keeps up the border wall will be finished.
One word explains it all: Latinx.
No reasonably Catholic or heterosexual Hispanic wants their children anywhere near that appellation, and in some cases, would kill to keep those people away.
And the Democrats really made a mess of it from the very beginning.
One reason I can 100% give you is the consistent, blatant, overused term LATINEX. It’s demeaning, dismissive, offensive and nobody outside of Woketown ™️ even knows why it’s used or even what it means.
But keep doing you, democraps!! You’re gonna slay the midterms! 🙄
Democrats are going batshit crazy on the woke-globohomo culture wars. working-class anyone thinks its nuts.
The thing is - government and all its connected cronies, employees, dependents and fellow-travellers are larger than any “working class.”
The Democrats can only go so far with telling Hispanics, or any minority, that Republicans are racist etc. and that they should support Democrats by default. Democrats can’t just say Republicans are racist. Democrats have to actually have some policies which can attract support.
Too bad that at the top the GOPe is still pure corporate cheap labor anti-MAGA all the way which is a turn off to the working classes.
Exactly! The few Hispanic kids at the primary school where I taught were extremely respectful & took their learning seriously.
Democrats are down to mentally ill people who don’t even know if they are a boy or a girl, mentally ill people who are not sure who to be sexually attracted to, the homeless, criminals, welfare slaves that are easily fooled, and communists.
No wonder Bidens numbers are so bad.
Too bad the Republican Party is run by anti worker fringe extremist globalist free traders whose priority and primary interest is in cheap labor.
I suspect that most Hispanic voters either have kids or want to have kids, so today’s Democrats don’t have a chance with them.
Some of them are leaving the party they were assigned at birth!
Biden wants cheap labor because lowering wages of all citizens is a way to control inflation.
Republicans NEVER had sanctuary cities... those crap cities were always white liberal elite and black pets... You know that va..
Yep. I’ve seen that too. And very very family oriented. Abortion isn’t very popular. But free handouts are. They do tend to be more socialistic. But they haven’t been poisoned by so many generations of gov’t psychological social destruction programs as Blacks have.
Well my county was the first Hispanic majority county in Texas to elect a Republican majority county court back in 2010. Now the Republican trend among Hispanics is expanding throughout south Texas. I wouldn’t be surprised if TX-15 CD switched to Republican this year. The incumbent barely survived a runoff in the Democrat primary.
Republicans are gaining quite a bit of the third and fourth generation Hispanics. They typically don't speak Spanish and speak English with native accents.
legal immigrants hate illegals.....but the GOP never went after there vote..
Trump did....he was for closing the border....he new Legals hate illegals from his construction projects...he made sure his kids worked on construction projects...
Which is why MAGA must win and RINOs must lose. The RINO Establishment will never be able to appeal to Hispanic voters any more than they could appeal to the White working class. They simply have a very small and shrinking constituency while MAGA can appeal to Hispanic voters and increasingly to younger Black voters.
The Democrats are not the party of the working class any more. They are the party of coastal elites, suburban Karens and a few grievance groups.
