Pinging you to pick your brain about this.
open in another application maybe?
You can copy and paste documents into FR threads???
I always just find them online and use html tags IMG SRC
To do a proper copy you can highlight the icon for the file and use keybaord shortcut CTRL-C to copy it to your clipboard, then CTRL-V to paste it where you want the copy to go. Or you can right-mouseclick the file, and select copy from the fly-out menu (it may be buried under “More Options” in the latest version of Windows-11 right-click menu).
If it’s a .DOC or .XLS(x), then it will want you to have a (paid for) working version of Office apps to open and edit them.
here is an alternative to word- called libre office- it works with word documents-
Don't use Word to do simple text copy/paste operations like those needed for FreeRepublic posts. I use Notepad.
I may not understand what you're trying to do there. But if you're trying to post a graphic image, FreeRepublic doesn't have user image storage. You have to have placed the image somewhere on an internet/public webserver, and post the <IMG SRC="https://....."> string into your post.
Or maybe I don't know what you meant by doing a copy/paste on a graphic image for an FR post.
BOOKbump !!
There are two MSFT office work a likes I know of, Libre Office and Open Office. Both are free. I have used Libre office to make documents and spreadsheets and it is very comparable to MSFT Office. I have not used Open Office. Perhaps one of these will do your bidding.
Personally I use MSFT Office 2003, the last version before MSFT, in my opinion, ruined Office with that silly ribbon.
