After receiving his son's mathematics results, a man in Henan, China, burst into tears β though not in a good way.
A 12-second video of this man surfaced online last Thursday (June 23) on Weibo, where he can be seen sobbing away while pacing around a room.
He then wipes off his tears with his sleeve, and grabs a towel off the bed to stop more tears from flowing.
It seems that this man found out that his son β whom he had been painstakingly tutoring every night for a year β had scored a measly six out of 100 for his mathematics exam.
According to the boy's mother, he would usually score either 40 to 50, or even 80 to 90 for his tests. Hence, the boy's mediocre results were a rather big blow to the man, who probably felt his efforts backfired.
Netizens sympathised with the man in the comments, saying that they understood how the man felt.
On the flip side, some also felt that it might have been the man's mistake instead of his son's, that everything he taught his son was wrong.
Last October, another Chinese man also experienced a mental breakdown because of his daughter's ineptitude for mathematics.
The man, who resides in Jiangsu, laid down in the middle of the road and begged police to detain him, as he did not want to return home after his daughter failed to solve a simple equation.
"My daughter subtracted 700 from 800. She said the result is 900," he told a police officer.
He wasn’t teaching new, leftist American woke math, was he?
I’m sure Joe Biden can relate.
The father learned that he is a crummy tutor. Time to send the kid to a professional.
Well, you know what they say about Chinese arithmetic...
How much did he pay the people who scored the test?
Why, yes he was. What does that have to do with anything? (/sarc)
Would the kid have scored worse, better, or the same without the father’s tutoring?
Common Core?
It is actually 6% so it rally canβt not get much worse!!
rally =really SORRY
Dad is bad at math and teaching son wrong. (My guess)
We had one daughter that varied a lot depending on her teachers. Some years the teachers were good and she “got it” in math. Other years we had to send her to professional tutors. And even there, they would have to match her up with the right tutor. We taught them at home with some stuff (like memorizing the addition and times tables - which was against the school district rules to be taught!), but as they got older it was too much.
And those years she would be in her math class and explaining it to all of the other kids that didn’t “get it” due to the lousy teacher.
One teacher never even taught!! She would play a video of the lesson and then hand out the worksheet. She would sit at her desk browsing and shopping on the computer! Wouldn’t even help a kid if they asked.
The damage those types of teachers do to our kids, and in effect - our country, is treason.
Let’s congratulate this father and son for defeating Asian stereotypes.

Well, that’s an argument against hone schooling right there. π€π
