Not just law enforcement. There is the same mindset developing in the enforcement of rules put in place by unelected regulatory agencies.

Yep.
I see unrelated government agencies — like the SEC, for example — getting into the environmental business.
They use the FDIC and OIC and all the banking regulators to squeeze oil companies.
There is no drilling because oil companies can’t raise equity and can’t borrow money — despite being solid and profitable.
“Not just law enforcement.”
I despise that term. They used to be known as Peace Officers. Now they’re “law enforcement”. That’s an entirely different mindset. Then there’s how they refer to the people they’re sworn to serve and protect as “civilians”.
Guess what, Officer. You’re a civilian, too. The only real difference between you and I is that you have been granted the power to arrest for misdemeanors by the State and local jurisdictions.
Oh, and you have the “presumption of honesty” (something that needs to be seriously reconsidered in my view), and the full power of the State behind you. Oh, and you’re trained to lie. In fact you’re expected to lie if it helps you make an arrest. And let’s not forget the nearly unlimited “qualified immunity” you have. That’s something else that needs to be reigned in hard, too.
Perhaps I’d feel differently if so many of you hadn’t been so blatantly violating peoples rights for so many years and then closing ranks around the worst members of the “law enforcement community”.
Yes, I know there are good cops. Yes I know that the vast majority of cops really want to help. But any organization is only as good as the worst psycho tolerated among them.
And for far too long some very, very bad people have been among you and you’ve tolerated it with your silence.
