What I don’t understand is why they keep booking flights. If all the airlines are short-staffed due to COVID vax rules or whatever, just stop overbooking flights. It used to be that overbooking was selling more seats than a flight could carry. Now whole flights are overbooked.
Yes, DW College is closed. I know someone who was a professor there. My first office was right next door. We had several students work for us as interns back in the 80’s, 90’s and on.
Back in the 80’s it was only one of two programs in the country where you could become a commercial pilot without being in the military.
The other thing is that the regional FAA center here in Nashua took in a lot of their graduates in the air traffic controllers program. FYI, FAA Nashua controls all flights coming into the US from Europe. Plus all flights east of Cleveland once they leave airports.
A buddy of mine’s son is a FAA controller at Miami International. His route was entering the Air Force after high school. He did a year in Iraq at the airbase outside of Baghdad. He came home and six months later he was out of the Air Force. He immediately applied to the FAA. Trained for 3 months and was given a choice of three airports. He chose Miami. He has been there for about 15 years now.
Daniel Webster College was sold for just under 12 million dollars. It looks like it may be up for sale again or foreclosed on in the future.
Closed and sold colleges are interesting. They are usually beautiful large properties in rural areas with all buildings in tact. A bunch sold in Vermont in the past few years for 4-6 million. I expect a bunch more small private colleges to close and be sold. One in Tennessee on 200+ acres sold for 6 million. Judson College in Alabama sits on 150 acres is for sale, no price listed.
These properties could be great places for new businesses, camps, retreats, resorts, or for families looking to live close.
“The main campus was located on 54 acres next to Nashua Airport, comprising three academic buildings, a gymnasium, and an auditorium.”
This is right in the middle/west side of Nashua, NH. Right near the Hollis border. An expensive suburb. Not out in the country.
The airport was on one side and residential homes surrounding it on the other side. I wonder if it will end up being apartments or condos to justify $12M for 54 acres.
I believe the major car rental companies sold some of their fleet during the WuFlu shutdown to raise cash. Now they’ve positioned much to the popular tourist destinations while waiting for the vehicles that can’t be delivered due to the chip shortage.
“I am actually flying into Idaho Falls on a Sunday and then driving to Boise the next day(4 hours). I return it to Hertz at Boise on Tuesday. $706 for three days.”
I know there is an Idaho Falls to Boise promotional flight on Alaska right now for $59. Similar to Spokane. Probably won’t fit your needs...
There is that Alaska flight but it leaves at 9am.
I want to spend more time there. I fly in Sunday afternoon at about 5:30. Have dinner with a customer and then go to his business in the morning. All the other flights take longer to get to Boise than driving.
Hey, but thanks for thinking about me!
Many times in the past ten years I flew Southwest from Boise to Spokane direct. It was always full. That flight no longer exists.
So, I am scheduled to fly Alaska Boise to Spokane direct.
ONLY 4 of those “pilots” squinting into the sun for that photo are wearing sunglasses?
Yea. Affirmative action woke apprentices!
yeah. The Army flies too.
But the USAF and Navy wings tend to stay in one place.
The Army wings wobble in circles all over the hell and gone every revolution.
I have flown out of MAnchester. Its a good place or was.
Logan is a nightmare unless you go and stay at an airport hotel and catch an early morning flight. That seems to work.
The aorlines really screwed the pooch when they mandated their pilots for the jab.
Meanwhile, just published, note the link for newer version...
