Still brings tears to my eyes at how GOD used this good, humble man. That his words were more powerful than any weapon, because he spoke in the power of the HOLY SPIRIT.
Belen New Mexico? ππ
Darn, missed the r. Still, the rest stands.

Now, under the communist rule that he warned us about in many other speeches, this speech would be considered “hate speech” here in the Soviet States of America...
Courage and straightforwardness goes a long way. Itβs definitely a Trump attribute.
The Russians were scared of Reagan. We need that now.

Ronald Reagan: “Mr. Gorbachev, Tear Down This Wall!”

I went to Berlin just before the wall came down. Took the tour bus to East Berlin, which was incredibly ugly and poor. Cancel Culture was ahead of its time there, with all the statues of former leaders lying on their sides in a special park. Food was ghastly, and the ladies’ room had one towel for hundreds of women to use.
Then came Reagan;s speech, and down it came. A German friend sent me a piece of that wall, now a proud possession.
The staff cut the “tear down this wall” line 12 times, and President Reagan put it back in every time. They said it would raise unrealistic expectations.
Two years later, the wall came tumbling down.
Yeah, the Belin Wall speech was by Onald Eagan. :)
My Dad was a HUGE Reagan ran; I miss them both to this day, but I really hope Dad has had a chance to meet him in Heaven. :)
That said, I probably wouldn't still be as interested in politics as I am today, were it not for President Reagan. What a LEADER! I was PROUD to serve under him in the Army. Not so proud to do so under Carter and flat-out EMBARRASSED to have to serve while Clinton was in office. (I won't say, 'served under' where that horn dog is concerned!) We lost a LOT of Senior NCOs and Captains when all of that 'don't ask, don't tell' opened the door to the mess our ranks are in today!

“A German friend sent me a piece of that wall, now a proud possession.”
How wonderful for you! History in your hands! :)

Best there ever was...
Best there ever will be.
We miss you, Ronnie.
I was stationed in West Berlin at that time and my wife was in the audience and heard President Reagan’s “Tear down this Wall” speech. Still brings chills when we hear it.
