JACK DEL RIO FINED $100,000 FOR COMMENTS ON JAN 6 AND FLOYD RIOTS; COMMANDERS ISSUE RIDICULOUS STATEMENT

In an embarrassing moment for the NFL, the Washington Commanders announced today that they are fining Defensive Coordinator Jack Del Rio $100,000 for comparing the events of January 6th to violence that erupted after the death of George Floyd in May 2020.

The announcement was immediately applauded by NFL reporters desperate to be the first to publicly proclaim their allegiance to the “correct” set of opinions:

Rapaport displays a key function of modern activism disguised as reporting – instead of expressing skepticism or scrutiny, sports writers approach each topic with the underlying assumption their opinions inarguably constitute the only acceptable set of beliefs.

Del Rio’s comments are “troublesome” and “wrong,” and therefore he deserves this “significant” response.

Rapaport and others like him could have approached the issue with nuance and objectivity, but this is simply the latest example of media personalities committed to maintaining unblemished allegiance to whatever The Current Thing demands.

To hell with the NFL and to hell with sportswriters too, who seem to be in competition to out-woke everyone else in media.

Del Rio’s mistake was apologizing, although I imagine he was told ‘apologize publicly or pack your things and go’.

Reason #177 why I'm glad that I divorced the NFL a couple of years ago and,at the same time, requested a permanent restraining order forbidding it to enter my TV.

Perhaps the ex-Redskins could rebrand as simply the Reds. The color scheme would have to go to bright red, and the logo could be a profile of Marx, Engels, Lenin, and Stalin

A more apt name would be the Washington Corruption.

That statement from Coach Rivera is so very typical of the woke Left. You have the right to voice your opinion! But if anyone finds your words hurtful you will be smacked down like the dog you are.

Is Rivera too dumb to realize that the second part completely negates the first part? Or is he just running scared like everyone else in corporate America?

Del Rio should’ve retained his honor and told these leftist thugs to pound sand rather than apologize and let them get their pound of flesh. He has a net worth of $85 mil. Quite enough.

Commanders? Is that their name now? I didn’t know that. I wish people in the NFL would STFU so I didn’t know that for the rest of my life. I don’t give a crap about foooseball anymore. It’s the devil.

Unfortunately not. The 1A only protects you against government oppression. It does not protect you against an oppressive private employer. Del Rio’s only hope would be if there was something in his contract that prohibited the fine. And that’s doubtful.

The man can’t have an opinion without getting fined and censored? How dare he drag that holy name, the beloved St. George of Floyd to make his point. Roger Goodell sucks and deserves every last boo he receives when hosting NFL Draft Night. Overpaid Woke lawyers running the NFL. I hope Jon Gruden wins in court and humiliates the NFL so deservedly.
