Ford will add 6,200 factory jobs in Michigan, Missouri and Ohio as it prepares to build more electric vehicles and roll out two redesigned combustion-engine models.

The company says it will invest $3.7 billion in the three states between now and 2026. It also will convert about 3,000 temporary workers to full-time status with pay raises and benefits.

And when the EVs prove to be a non solution, those jobs will disappear.

Ford will flare brightly, go broke and disappear. the will never see a profit on this huge, catastrophic investment in EVs.

“to build more electric vehicles and roll out two redesigned combustion-engine models.“

At least they are only wasting half of their money.

All union jobs....that’ll add what...about 15% to the price of one of these vehicles?

I never understood the appeal to buying a new Ranger. I’ve owned used Rangers over the years and loved them as a small utility truck. But that’s from the perspective of wanting something cheap and useful: “cheap” = used not new. It seems like someone wanting to dish out the kind of money for a new truck would spend a little extra to get something fancier than a Ranger.

I Am against unions but the labor costs for union built vehicles is only 2% more than non union PER VEHICLE SOLD. If all cars and trucks were made in the USA I would be happy. If most were made with non union workers the I would be very happy.

Because other new ford models are working out so well:

“ord is recalling over 345,000 Escape SUVs from the 2020-2022 model years and Bronco Sport SUVs from the 2021-2022 model years to fix an oil leak that might cause a fire. Only vehicles equipped with 1.5-liter engines are included in the recall.Apr 1, 2022

Some 2022 Ford Bronco models are going into the shop due to engine failure and need to have the motor replaced. According to MotorTrend, the issues are traced to problems with the valvetrain, resulting in dead motors.May 7, 2022”

Article:

As soon as Ford opened reservations for the electric F-150, it began planning to expand the Dearborn plant that makes them, he said. “The reservations were so much higher than the (production) capacity that we had put in,” Galhotra said. “This is the first time in my career that we were expanding the plant before the plant was built.”

Thanks for the correction...at any rate collective bargaining units in auto plants is one of the main reasons I steer away from domestic vehicles....my 2018 Jeep is a rare exception. That hasn’t happened in many years.

1.5 liters is equal to 1500 CC’s or 91.5 cubic inches.

In contrast my Harley engine is 1584 CC or 96 cubes.....and it’s never had a recall much less been in danger of catching fire.

Having said all that I’m sure the for sure gets decent mpg......that is as long as it doesn’t spontaneously combust.
