My wife and about 20 adult relatives on each side of her family came from a sundown town.
They have had zero black citizens for ever.
The “sundown” there meant the unemployed hobos before, during and after the depression were gone by sundown.
There were and still are no inns, motels nor even room and boards. The two restaurants are basically breakfast and early supper. They rotate being open on Saturday evening.
Nothing is open on Sunday.
My wife’s older relatives on both sides were basically old fashioned democrats or independents. She and her cousins on both sides were/are basically good republicans. They didn’t like what the Korean and Vietnam wars did to their sons or friends.
