An old Army bud has observed an uptick in "training tempo"...curious if any freepers in that area observing this also?

Possibly coincidence, but it seems there’s’ been a different flying ops schedule at Randolph and the 149th ANG F-16 wing at Lackland over the last few weeks.

China is supposed to invade Taiwan this Fall.
China is in no better shape then the Russians. The Russians have stalled in their invasion of Ukraine taking great loss in men and material and they have it relatively easy compared to what the Chinese face trying to invade Taiwan.
The strait between China and Taiwan is relatively shallow (submarines can not really hide). Taiwan also has laid a lot of detection equipment in the straits. They would be able to locate targets as required.
The Chinese military is poorly trained, their main function appears to be cheap labor and ceremonies. They would have to have a couple of years of real training before attempting and invasion.
Where and when to invade - as I understand it there are just a few spots on Taiwan that a large invading Army could land and because of weather only a few times during the year it makes it safe for the invaders to cross the straits. Taiwan knows when those times are and where those locations are so I assume they are watched and well defended.
Taiwan has a mountain range that runs the lengths of the country. Don’t know for a fact but would not be surprised it there are tunnels throughout fully stocked with supplies.
Last is that the other nations in the region have been joining in self defense agreements where if one nation is attacked the others would provide support.
Invading Taiwan would be a losing proposition for China and only a insane leader would order it. Since we are talking about a Communist dictator it is possible they would invade anyway. (see Putin and his advised invasion of Ukraine)
