I don't even own a place right now. I'm literally staying at friends' places,” he was quoted as saying by the New York Post.
“If I travel to the Bay Area, which is where most of Tesla's engineering is, I basically rotate through friends' spare bedrooms,” the Tesla CEO added.
“I don't have a yacht, I don't take vacations,” he added. Musk was responding to a question about wealth disparity across the world and the amount of money spent by billionaires.
“I think there's axiomatic flaws that are leading to that conclusion. It would be very problematic if I would be consuming billions of dollars a year in personal consumption, but that is not the case,” said Musk.
"It's not as though my personal consumption is high, with the one exception being the plane. If I don't use the plane then I have less hours to work," he added.

Combined with persistence. Space X was one more failed launch away from ending some say. He does the 99% perspiration part.
more like borrowed money.
I’m not falling for anything, to me its a matter of commonsense and fairness. One of the issues with capitalism has always been the problem of monopolies forming and acquiring undue power with them being able to wipe out their competition, that is what we see today with big tech that nobody does anything about. They had some kind of law in Japan where publicly held corporations couldn’t pay their CEO’s more than 13x the rate of their lowest paid workers, and I would support something along those lines.
Exactly. People like him are the reason for most of humanities advances.
I would put Jefferson there, perhaps Franklin as well.
At the time Mars was his obsession. People with Asperger's tend to be obsessive compulsive. Maybe his latest obsession is Twitter.
One of my son's best friends has Asperger's like Elon. This young man is also exceptionally smart. He was the Salutatorian of my son's high school class here in NH. He went to WPI for robotics. Had a 4.0 GPA. He had an internship at Dean Kaman’s company Deca when he was in college. I have known him since he was in cub scouts with my son. He was always a strange child. Something slightly off.
Brilliant, but a little strange.
With that kind of money he could live in 5 star hotels. Why own property? It ends up owning you. There is a logic to it.
A wealthy person can only consume a reasonable amount of food and drink. Just because your rich doesn’t your calorie intake is unlimited.
A wealthy person requires a certain amount of sleep.
He still has the same health concerns as a peasant. A wealthy person may actually worry more about their health? They have a lot more to lose.
Kind of like how many of those who've won the Nobel prize in literature were bipolar alcoholics like Hemingway, Faulkner, Fitzgerald and Poe, their quirks allow them to see things from another perspective that normal people don't pick up on.
Upcoming from BB soon, I’m sure
I tend to wonder if the so-called spectrum is really several axis’, and that’s why it’s so hard to pin down by a single test. For example, a child diagnosed with ADHD can sit in front of a console game for 10 hours straight but when asked to do english homework throws a fit after 5 minutes. Describing them as interests falls shorts and using the word “Deficit” with attention is absurd.
Sure, but it's more fun to be able to chat with friends whenever you want to.
That's why antitrust laws were passed, to prevent the DuPonts, the Rockefellers, the Vanderbilts, the Astors, and the Carnegies from forming monopolies. The 19th century tycoons make today's billionaires look like paupers. These are the names that built railroads, steel empires, oil fortunes, and vast real estate holdings.
They had some kind of law in Japan where publicly held corporations couldn’t pay their CEO’s more than 13x the rate of their lowest paid workers, and I would support something along those lines.
I would not. Again, it isn't a zero sum game, and Musk forfeiting a billion or two of his wealth will not make a burger flipper at McDonalds any better off.
wives got the homes
He is building a satellite based internet, owning a social networking company to help transition and attract folks to it isn’t purely altruistic…
Now I don’t know what his plans are, but whatever they are, they are likely more than they appear on the surface
He’ll be successful and make plenty of coin.
He could limo his friends over whenever he likes. Lol.
And being wealthy, he can afford the very best medical care that the world has to offer, which cannot be offered to the masses.
Did you hear that on CNN or MSNBC?
