Elon Musk Says He Doesn't Own A Home, Sleeps In Friends' Spare Bedrooms
NDTV ^ | 4.20.2022

I don't even own a place right now. I'm literally staying at friends' places,” he was quoted as saying by the New York Post.

“If I travel to the Bay Area, which is where most of Tesla's engineering is, I basically rotate through friends' spare bedrooms,” the Tesla CEO added.

“I don't have a yacht, I don't take vacations,” he added. Musk was responding to a question about wealth disparity across the world and the amount of money spent by billionaires.

“I think there's axiomatic flaws that are leading to that conclusion. It would be very problematic if I would be consuming billions of dollars a year in personal consumption, but that is not the case,” said Musk.

"It's not as though my personal consumption is high, with the one exception being the plane. If I don't use the plane then I have less hours to work," he added.

“Wealth” is nothing more than money you saved or invested instead of spending it on bling, Escalades and hoes.

I actually envy the guy. He loves what he does so much that he never takes vacation and never "goes home."

Yep, taking a "vacation" would probably be a boring drag for him.

I have a spare bedroom Elon. Only $5,760,000 per night. Includes continental breakfast.

Not that unusual.

Some assignments/clients gave me the spare bedroom, and my company could afford five star hotels, but I’d rather stay with family/friends/clients.

Why does he feel the need to keep sharing this?

Why do people feel the need to interview him?

I don't agree with your post. If Elon Musk decided not to pursue wealth and be content with what you feel is "fair", then we would not have fast growing companies like Tesla, SpaceX, The Boring Company and PayPal. All the many thousands of people who work in those companies would not have jobs there if Musk did not create them.

The wealth gap is there for a reason. By offering vast rewards to our entrepreneurs, more people are inclined to step up to create and innovate.

Nothing wrong with a little eccentricity. Makes him more interesting, and unpredictable.

That’s actually probably a smart move, although I really don’t believe it. Fly under the radar, especially in crazy libtard days like these.

This.

And one of the Blockchain developers has also stated he can use that money to build a better decentralized competitor on his blockchain if he wants to. That would drive MASSIVE innovation to blockchain development.

So Musk thinks the wealth gap is fine as long as he isn’t using his on lavishing himself with extravagant luxury items? Sorry but I don’t agree. The wealth gap today is higher than any point in history, and if something isn’t done about leveling things out a bit, you can expect a Bernie Sanders type candidate to be elected in the not too distant future.

Don't fall for the Leftist "zero-sum game" argument. Musk or anyone else having billions does not mean they took it away from poor people.

Today's American living below the poverty line is living like a millionaire did in the 1800s.

Sure, but there are lots of financially attractive investments out there for a multi-billionaire. He’s focusing on this one primarily to accomplish a political goal.

Lol, how to become a billionaire:

1. Co-invent new internet payment processing system
2. Create new car company
3. Build new space exploration and colonization platform
4. Create satellite-based internet platform
5. Save money by sleeping on friends’ couch

Don't fall for the Leftist "zero-sum game" argument.

I don't believe that's what the original poster was suggesting - the point was that there are a LOT of ignoramuses that WILL believe that garbage, and they are also (unfortunately) voters.

My 3rd son (college freshman) is on the spectrum—the new catch phrase is “neurodivergent.” In high school he had a dismal 2.4 GPA but was and is a fabulous chess player, coder, and self-taught piano player. Gets As only in Computer Science classes (his major) because he won’t focus on anything he doesn’t care about. He’s quite…crazy.

Steve Jobs lived on a mattress on the floor with no furniture because no furniture he looked at was beautiful enough to buy in his opinion.
