Elon Musk Says He Doesn't Own A Home, Sleeps In Friends' Spare Bedrooms
NDTV ^ | 4.20.2022

I don't even own a place right now. I'm literally staying at friends' places,” he was quoted as saying by the New York Post.

“If I travel to the Bay Area, which is where most of Tesla's engineering is, I basically rotate through friends' spare bedrooms,” the Tesla CEO added.

“I don't have a yacht, I don't take vacations,” he added. Musk was responding to a question about wealth disparity across the world and the amount of money spent by billionaires.

“I think there's axiomatic flaws that are leading to that conclusion. It would be very problematic if I would be consuming billions of dollars a year in personal consumption, but that is not the case,” said Musk.

"It's not as though my personal consumption is high, with the one exception being the plane. If I don't use the plane then I have less hours to work," he added.

He moves around from job site to job site so much I can almost understand why he would not plant himself in a home, etc.

You keep saying “if something isn’t done about it”.

So what would you do about it?

maybe Musk has high standards and has not found the right house

Steve Jobs was such a perfectionist that, for years, he didn’t fill his house with furniture simply because he couldn’t find items that measured up to his high standards.

Because of the Depp trial, I have started noticing the prominence of Amber Heard in many discussions of these very rich people.

Was she the village bicycle?

“Was she the village bicycle?”

Yes, she is that. But more than that, she is a psycho serial abuser. Just read this partition to get an idea of what she is like:

They had some kind of law in Japan where publicly held corporations couldn’t pay their CEO’s more than 13x the rate of their lowest paid workers, and I would support something along those lines.

That's not going to work out. An employee making $15/hr annualizes to $31K, so the most they could pay a CEO is about $400K.

You could get around that by outsourcing your lowest paid workers to service companies, so that the only corporate employees were high-paid professionals.

For example, a child diagnosed with ADHD can sit in front of a console game for 10 hours straight but when asked to do english homework throws a fit after 5 minutes.

ADHD kids can concentrate just fine, on things which actually interest them. The condition could be better described as "difficulty in focusing on boring stuff". The key is finding ways to channel their interests in productive directions.

In my past job in the oilfields I traveled much, world wide. All my expenses were paid. I could stay anywhere I wanted. If I were in a place where I had friends I would stay with them. I just wanted their company. I always took them out for a great meal. I just wanted to be around friends after weeks alone without friends. I suspect Elon Musk is the same.

The wealth gap today is higher than any point in history, and if something isn’t done about leveling things out a bit, you can expect a Bernie Sanders type candidate to be elected in the not too distant future.

the only option is to tear down the fed which is THE #1 engine driving the stratification of wealth. I am all for the DISPARITY of wealth. In fact the wealthiest most productive countries all have large disparity gaps of wealth. What the real danger is the STRATIFICATION of wealth and that happens when the government controls the money supply... and in our case we don't even have a national bank controlled by the treasury. Out "federal reserve" is not even federal, but run by a consortium of international financiers, some domestic and some foreign. It is a terrible mess.

I do not see any way out of it short of a revolution or (more likely) an implosion of the current system. In that type situation you hope for the best, move into the country, and count your rounds and beans.

I have heard Frogman play often in South Louisiana before he became big time. He would play the local bars. He had a toy frog on the top of his piano. It was odd, blacks could not come in but he could play that bar. Times have changed thankfully. The patrons loved him.

I’m not that smart on this type of stuff, but I don’t understand how a WEB SITE like Facebook is worth so much when it doesn’t charge you to use the site to post crap about yourself and your family for all the crooks to read and plan their attack on you or your home or business with all the personal info that folks throw around on the Internet. All these posting sites run off advertisements or such and I don’t see how that keeps them afloat. Amazon sells stuff, but how does Facebook be worth billions and stupid Twitter worth all that money? Don’t get it. Like the guy said, built on a house of cards.

For one thing I would adjust corporate taxation rates to favor employers that paid their employees at higher rates compared to the norm. I mentioned Japans CEO compensation limited to 13x the lowest paid employee, although I would adjust that multiple upwards by a factor of 10. Of course there is the problem of implementing such a policy which wouldn’t be really feasible in a globalist world economic system where we are competing with low wage countries, so some degree of trade protectionism will result, but I think domestic concerns should take precedence over global ones in these matters. I’m just throwing these idea out off the top of my head, I’m sure there are other ways of tweaking the system to restore some semblance of fairness to it.

I agree, getting rid of the Fed would help solve most of these issues, but the chance of that happening are nil short of a revolution. Politicians will never give up their deficit sending. Fed policy directly caused this asset inflation and the accompanying bubbles leading to the great disparity of wealth.

A wealthy person has access to the best medical care available and if you are as priviledged as the Queen of England you would never want to give it up. Heaven could be slumming it for her but bonus no Sparkles!!

I am not sure why we should care if he has or hasn’t a personal home. Why does he feel the need to keep sharing this?

Being wealthy in today's America is equated with living a lavish not-earth-friendly lifestyle. If you speak to an urban dwelling sub-30 year old they will likely tell you that most of the evils of our country can be traced to a small minority of people living it up and keeping the rest of us poor.

When Musk talks about his lack of a home, he is saying that he may be wealthy, but he isn't living large at the expense of everyone else.
