Remember when the Soviet Union was allied with the Nazis in their quest to carve up Poland, and the American Left took to the streets in droves to oppose US entry into the war...then, when the Nazis launched Barbarossa, those same people were, within minutes of the news, agitating for the US to jump into the war with both feet!

It would have been so easy to draft an Amendment that said, “Any person who has served two terms as President subsequently ceases to be eligible to the office”.
But that’s not what they did, is it?
This came up with Truman the big talk was always that he could have ran for another term because he was only elected once. He chose not to run but I don't remember any solid arguments that he couldn't run.
