I fervently hope that that does not come to pass. While Putin may not be a perfect angel in the eyes of what passes for American "society", what he does bring is STABILITY, which Russia desperately needed during and after the breakup of the Soviet Union.
Secondly, who is next after Putin? Only my personal opinion, mind you, but I believe that THAT is where the biggest existential danger to the world is.
Thirdly, as I read somewhere (GAW, I think) earlier today, if everything the mainstream media / propaganda peddlers has told us for the past several decades is a lie -- and it's been pretty well proven that it is -- why do so many people believe they're suddenly telling the truth THIS time?
The more these monolithically unified jerkwads with their 1950s and 1960s-era propaganda push the narrative of "Putin bad, Ukraine pure as the driven snow" -- the more I lean toward giving Putin the benefit of the doubt.

I see a lot of this mind set. I was lurking on another chat tonight because the guy from devolution was on and the “conservative” program people commenting in the chat room sounded like folks still believing that the Russia of today was a modern version of the Soviet Union. Communist not nationalist.
IMO Trump got along with Putin because Trump put America first in all his negotiations and Putin put Russia first. Out side of folks here I see very few conservatives who understand this when discussing Putin. They think like it is Cold War Soviet Union politics.

Glad I’m not the only thinking that as well. But as usual whenever the US goes for regime change in any country it’s worse than it was before. Libya’s still a mess and Syria too.
