How do you get the “attenuation”, the negative charge, off the term Patriot?

I like people who are patriots.

But their designation was hijacked by the military-industrial complex in the aftermath of September 11, 2001, by the Bush 43 Administration, when there was pressure to streamline constitutional protections against unjust prosecution. The chickens have come home to roost after that unwise development, in the DOJ’s current prosecutions about January 6.

Just coincidentally, many of the people who did that high jacking, have been revealed as the enemies of freedom since January 6.

How do you repair this term?

Most people’s reaction to the news, is highly emotional.

It strikes me as an adverse term to use in this situation.

It doesn’t help me to focus on the truth.

No reflection on the man.

Heck, I can’t judge who he is by what he has done because the article didn’t say. We can’t keep up with millions of people and their respective pet issues.
