Seems that Citroen made a lot of very fine diesel automobiles before year 2000 that will run on veg oil. UK bought a lot of them. Though comments say that 50% legitimate diesel fuel must be added in the winter. The veg oil gets too thick.

A friend runs his older Dodge Cummins on used cooking oil. He runs it through a two stage filtering process with the last stage being a centrifugal filter.

In the winter the oil tank is heated by hot water from the engine.

He’s driven from WV to FL and back on cooking oil.

There's a restaurant owner in Denver who ran her old Mercedes on cooking oil from her kitchen for about 20 years. The Mercury Cafe.
