Retaining the license does not require vaccination. It is the Hospitals and other employers that have mandated it.

Thousands of Health Care Workers, mostly Nurses have been terminated just around Metro Boston for declining the vaccination. No way the State would give up the revenue for Licensure renewals.

Even if you are not working at the moment, you never know you could consult. If not certified you probably couldn’t be paid as a certified person.

When I was teaching there were times when only a certified teacher was acceptable even if not my field. I was a certified orchestra teacher but during achievement testing only certified personnel were allowed to be in the rooms. School districts had to find teachers or take extra days to meet the requirements.

If there’s no shot requirement, then I’d do the renewal.

It’s not that long ago that you retired, and there may be a need for medics soon.
