Mayor Lori Lightfoot on Friday branded as “deeply offensive,” “ridiculous” and “wholly lacking in merit” the claim that she made an obscene and derogatory remark against Italian Americans during a call to discuss the statue of Christopher Columbus removed from Arrigo Park.(snip)
The comment that incensed Ron Onesti, president of the civic committee, was allegedly made during a video call the mayor had the evening of Columbus Day with several people, including two park district attorneys, (snip)
On the call, according to the lawsuit, Lightfoot berated Smyrniotis and Park District General Counsel Timothy King.
“You d—ks, what the f—k were you thinking?” Lightfoot is quoted as saying in the lawsuit.
According to the lawsuit, Lightfoot went on to accuse King and Smyrniotis of making “some kind of secret agreement with Italians, what you are doing, you are out there measuring your d—ks with the Italians seeing whose got the biggest d—k. ... I am trying to keep Chicago Police officers from being shot and you are trying to get them shot. My d—k is bigger than yours and the Italians, I have the biggest d—k in Chicago.”
The mayor, Smyrniotis claims in the lawsuit, went on to defame him, making “rude, insulting, false, and disrespectful statements” that he “lacked an ability to perform his job duties,” asking, among other things: “Where did you go to law school? Did you even go to law school? Do you even have a law license?”
Ron Onesti, president of the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans, had demanded that Lightfoot apologize for making what he called “vulgar” and “offensive” remarks about Italian Americans.
Onesti also has doubts about the veracity of the mayor’s denial.

It’s highly unlikely that a city official would make up a lie that detailed, that elaborate about the Mayor.
Most people could imagine her speaking that way, especially if she’s speaking to someone who is both white and male.
She is known to have a chip on her shoulder when it’s not needed.

She may be right she and her wife do have snap on tools.
Italian Americans came here voting Democrat and now, after German Americans and Scotch Irish, are third in the spread of Republicans over Democrat. That’s why Lightfoot won’t see them. They didn’t vote for her. Same in NYC where there is only one borough that consistently votes Republican -heavily Italian American populated Staten Island. Only 1 NY city council seat of 20 held by a Republican- Staten Island. Only 1 congressional seat held by a Republican -Staten Island. Only borough to vote for Trump 57 to 43 - Staten Island.
Based on previous reports, from people that worked with or observed her in her various roles before she became mayor, it wouldn’t surprise me a bit that she speaks this way. Per them, she used to drink scotch and smoke cigars in the office, with a smug attitude of “I’m a triple threat, you can’t touch me!”.
Like an impression of an old-school political boss, from somebody with the maturity of a nine year old.
Is there a video or recording of her saying that?
