New Zealand defender Meikayla Moore scored three goals - for the US women’s national team – as the Americans won 5-0 on Sunday in the second round of matches in the SheBelieves Cup.
The US, who drew with the Czech Republic 0-0 in their tournament opener on Thursday, got all the help they needed thanks to Moore’s own goals in the fifth, sixth and 36th minutes.
The US took over from there. Ashley Hatch made it 4-0 in the 51st with a header that was set-up by Sofia Huerta, and Mallory Pugh scored in the third minute of second-half stoppage time.

USA! USA! USA!
Was she awarded the game ball?
How many Hunter Biden paintings was she awarded?
It should be impossible... The coach should bench you after the first one... definitely after the second one (in two minutes)... four minutes after the third one... Where was the coaches head?
New Zealand “took two skiing Olympic Gold Medals from USA” and they were doing the Aboriginal Dance.
Coach didn’t think it was possible.
Soccer PING!
Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooal!
Repeat 2X
Has that ever happened before? I figure the coch would pull a player after at least two? Bad day for her.
In the words of another zKiwi: how bizarre?
SheBelieves she’s on the wrong team.
Lucky she doesn’t play for Colombia.
This woman was paid-off. There is no other logical explanation. Follow the money.
Incredible! smh
We’re in Heidi game territory here, folks. I wouldn’t fault her on the second one, which was a close range richocet off a header. She had no time at all to react. The first, an unlucky bad touch. The third — well, that will live in Kiwi infamy.
It seems like they were going to lose anyway. At most, she needed one own goal to fix the game.
New Zealand is not a good team...
It was very unlikely that it was going to beat USWNT in any case...
This USWNT has many young players...The coach is concerned about the future...He knows that veterans cannot play forever...He wants young players to get some experience...
Julie Foudy made a good point as the commentator during the game and it’s worth keeping in mind as one looks at the replays. In all three situations, the NZ defense had been completely turned, broken in midfield and burned down the flanks. On each of the own goals, the NZ players are all turned with their backs to the Americans and to the ball, sprinting to get back to cover. NZ didn’t bunker in. They pressed high and tried to pressure the U.S. When the U.S. broke the press, they got burned. Bad things happen when you are caught that completely out of position.
After her second goal I would have moved her to midfield or off the field away from the net. Somebody was asleep.
