The Olympics has been a charade eve since they first allowed professionals to play. There once was a time not too long ago when even a hint of remuneration was enough to disqualify a participant.
Today my wife was reading an article about some US gold medal winner from my home state. It seems his little hometown has already put up road signs about him. I asked her if the Olympics were still on and she had no idea. We haven't watched a single second this year and my wife watched only one sport the last time the winter events were held. I completely stopped watching when the IOC allowed professionals to compete.
I know other countries basically had pros but it was always an in-your-face when the USA kids would beat them. Now, it is just an extension of the pros.
