That is some Twisted irony for you, right there. The wife of a Harbor Police Chief is killed in a boat Collision on dry land.
I think if I hadn't been "forewarned" they would have gone through my windshield.
Covid???
Sure hope Mazda boy has insurance. No excuse for not securing a boat on a trailer before towing.
This happens a lot. I try to avoid all vehicles towing trailers. I will go out of my way to stay far clear of them, especially the large tractor/trailers.
How awfully sad.
RIP to this woman...and, prayers for her family.
Fiat 500 is tiny and has smart air bags but, its a boat thats probly 5x bigger, in the road. Good grief.
Probably following one car length at 80 mph.
Tail gating in California is insane. People in CA really need to chill when behind the wheel.
In 55 years of driving, I’ve had a golf ball soar over my (from the front), a poorly secured sheet of plywood zoom over my car, and watched a bicycle come off a carrier on the bumper of a car passing me to the left. So far, no accidents or injuries, thank God. A few years ago, my wife had a deer jump over her car from a steep embankment. That will startle you!
An original member of the music group ELO was killed when a giant hay bail came loose. It rolled down some hills and then landed on his SUV killing him. I believe that happened in England.
google “sheet of plywood through car windshield”...
“the boat detached.” Very tragic when a good person dies an horrible death. Yes, ironic getting hit by a boat in the desert in Jumal. I have seen detached trailers two times on the freeway, both trailers swerved for about three minutes before detaching and crashing. Sadly, one detached trailer rolled down the hill and a class 1960 Porsche tumbled out of the trailer. The young driver was heartbroken.
Happened same way to my father in law. They were uninjured but his Honda Ridgeline was totaled.
I've seen lots of lost boats on the highway. In my time of towing boats, the only accident I had was when a driver ran a red light and hit a custom built jetboat.
An Assault Boat?
Remember driving in the middle of the pine barrens in South Jersey. As I reached a sharp turn in the road I had to slam on the brakes as a trailer hitch with a boat attached blocked my path. Call the local police, heard later that the guy pulling the boat noticed it was missing three town later.
L A Times want me to pay to read an article ... well he it is L A Times ... FO
Tragic. Secure those loads, folks. Twice as many fasteners as needed is just right.
One of my driving no-nos...never follow behind a truck carrying ANYTHING!! Lived in San Diego for many years and saw so many small trucks loaded sky high with crap that it didn’t even look physically possible. Was always wary of the whole load flying off.
I typically tow my boat around town during the weekends. I don’t take it in the water, as that damages it and drives up the maintenance costs, which gets expensive as it’s a nice boat.
