Last fall, we learned that DC Comics’ new incarnation of Superman, Jon Kent (the son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane), would be less a superhero and more a social warrior, leaving the battling of supervillains to others while he tackled climate change. And in Superman: Son of Kal-El #5, it would be revealed he had a boyfriend.
"The idea of replacing Clark Kent with another straight white savior felt like a missed opportunity,” Tom Taylor, the writer of the new comic, said. So instead, Taylor revealed that the new Superman “had to have new fights — real world problems — that he could stand up to as one of the most powerful people in the world.”
While the left collectively cheered for DC Comic’s “bravery,” others lamented the blatant wokeness of the comic series. In addition to going woke with the social justice nonsense, DC Comics also changed Superman’s longstanding motto from “Truth, Justice, and the American Way” to” Truth, Justice, and a Better Tomorrow.” The company’s direction was enough for the comic’s colorist, Gabe Eltaeb, to quit DC Comics.
So, how did this new woke version of Superman do? Well, it turns out that going woke is kryptonite for comic sales. According to the site Bounding Into Comics, while orders for the comic had an initial boost, it went from the 6th-most comic book sold in November to not even breaking the top 50 in December.
“That’s right, the flagship Superman book at DC Comics is not on a Top 50 Comic Books by Units chart only 5 issues in,” the site reports.

Go away Gay Superman.
Golly. What a surprise.
“Get woke, go broke” is a message that needs to be ruthlessly delivered.
StupidMan and even stupider corp wokesters:-)
Wokeness is more destructive than Kryptonite.
From 6th place to falling out of the top 50 is quite a ruthless message.
“When will they ever learn” — Go Woke, Go Broke is probably not what Peter, Paul and Mary had in mind when they sang “Where Have All the Flowers Gone.”
Might be worth something as a collector’s item someday. Like that copy of Time magazine with President Hillary on the cover that I wish I’d bought but didn’t.
Sick degenerate purveyors of morally- corrupting filth to children should be rounded up and arrested
Idiots. Whoever owns the franchise deserves to go broke for such an obvious ignorance of the market.
Didn’t want another straight WHITE superman.
Please don’t let your kids read things from these racist radicals.
This is pure speculation, I have no research, no facts to back it up, just my own observations.
It would seem to me, the target audience for comics is teen boys. Teen boys, in spite of what the left wants to think, want girls. A comic presenting a queer superhero is a major buzz kill. There is a reason the women are drawn the way they are in comic books.
I know if I were transported back to comic book reading days, I’d much rather read an Archie comic, (and no offense but Archie is really lame), than a queer superman.
Go Woke, Go Broke.
Either way, its a win for the left. If they can destroy a franchise that has generally supported patriotic values for most of the 80+ history, that’s just a desirable an outcome as it is for people to actually buy their woke stuff.
At least Archie had Betty and Veronica. It was tame, but nice. I don’t think I ever saw an Archie comic get political.
Maybe Jon’s straight kid brother can take up the torch in his father’s tradition after Jon dies from a fentanyl overdose or from a STD.
They really need to just kibosh the entire lineup and go back to the pre-2006 DC Comics in a single universe.
“The idea of replacing Clark Kent with another straight white savior felt like a missed opportunity,” Tom Taylor, the writer of the new comic, said. “
Fag.
I did see one article where the author said the reason for this was that they didn't have a December issue. Make sure that this really is a case of death-by-wokeness.
I see the child groomers are still trying to sell children sexual deviancy in comic books.
