Even here in Southern Connecticut, the local ponds and rivers are mostly frozen over. Do I walk on them? No. But I do like to go walking by them and then going home for some hot chicken soup.
Snow storm in Chicago last night so everything was covered in snow Sunday morning. I’m stuck home on my day off until I shovel my car out (and I’m getting distracted online instead of doing that at the moment)
I could use some of that Global Warming right now. Where’s Algore’s dire predictions when you need them?
Forget it, they’re rolling.
People like you take all the fun out of CNN trying to gaslight citizens..Shame on you for speaking truth to hysterical idiocy.
From what, pray tell, is the phenomenon excluded? Bath tubs?
Well, fifty years ago during THE COMING ICE AGE hoax it was said Chicago would be under a “mile” of ice by now.
It appears it is starting!
I woke this morning and there were ice flows about a hundred yards out. And visible water vapors were rising off the water. Now the ice and the vapors are gone, And the lake is indistinguishable from the same lake on a summers day. Except there are no boats.
The lake is different every day. And its often very different from sunrise to mid afternoon. Most days it changes several time. On a slow news day, I could write a news story on the lake every day. Yesterday the bald eagles were courting each other with acrobatic flights. The trout and salmon must be coming to the surface for the big birds to feed on.
If a writer wants to describe the lake he is doing it a disservice by statically describing a slice in time. The lake is change.
Years of occasional looking out over the lake, on a few days you could see “something” on the other side!
Guessing the wind blew the pollution out? Mirage?
We had enough elevation so the horizon was not a problem.
Another interesting and more frequent event was a Chicago police boat that passed come hell or high water!
Huge waves splashing over LSD, and they would be out there, sometimes you would lose sight of them in the waves!
