Did Coke change their beverage formula? It tastes differently than before.
Tasting Coca Cola

Good morning everyone. I drank a Coca Cola after church services this past Sunday at our get together and it tasted funny. I was wondering if my encounter with Covid some months ago had affected my taste. Then, wifey bought some coke yesterday and it tasted the same as it did Sunday. It doesn't taste like Coke used to taste. Anyone else notice the change?
Other things taste normal to me so was wondering what is going on with Coca Cola. Anyone know if they changed the formula? Is it now Biden Cola?

Just wondering.

I am sadly a coca-cola addict. It hasn’t changed since the 80’s switch to corn syrup.

I thought they changed formula last summer.
Maybe you are just now getting the new?

*I'm* wondering what happened to the 1 and 1/4 liter bottles of Coke at the Dollar Generals and supermarkets in my area. Those shelves have been empty for weeks.

The batch might be older than usual. Woke-a-Cola sales dropped when they told people to “be less white” and they’ve got overstock to get through.

You may have bought Mexican Coke, which uses cane sugar.

Interesting. We don’t drink much Coke at all due to health circumstances. However, had some Sunday and then what she brought home yesterday and it had the same weird taste. That’s all.

Even going back to the ‘70s there have been subtle differences in taste in Coca-Cola when it comes from different bottlers, and even different sizes and typres of containers. The Coke in a 2 liter bottle is slightly sweeter than the Coke in a 20 oz. bottle or 12 oz. can.
If you can get it in your area, pick up a glass bottle of Mexican Coke for a baseline. It costs more, but it tastes more like Coke used to taste.

You may have bought Mexican Coke, which uses cane sugar. I don't think so. Both came from U.S. grocery stores in the regular section.

Forgive me, but perhaps it is not Coke that has changed, but you?
Many report a diminishment in their senses of taste/smell, post-COVID.

I agree. A certain sharpness to the sweetness compared to corn syrup.
