Last Sunday, we had my younger daughter's family over for a belated Christmas due to heavy snow that stuck around and some other contingencies over the main period of the holiday.
About two months ago, her and her husband, both vaccinated, and their two unvaccinated sons (10 and 12) all had Covid. It resembled a mild-to-moderate cold, except my daughter also has a lingering distortion of taste and smell.
Using that Internet meme from a couple of years ago, it flipped her from a Yanni to a Laurel, so that some things she used to like - such as cilantro - now taste terrible to her.
Covid is a very strange disease, asymptomatic to mild for most, a little worse for others, and deadly for a small percent. Then there are the weird lingering effects experienced by some.
My girlfriend and I, both unvaxxed, have been following some of the protocols recommended by medical dissenters and have so far - to our knowledge - avoided Covid, although early (February) in 2020 we both had what seemed like ordinary colds and I had some weird flu-like symptoms in December 2019.
Having my daughter's family over for a couple of hours was our first lengthy exposure to possible "shedding," but so far - three days later - we haven't noticed anything. I stepped-up my OTC supplements a bit.
