What could happen at the Djokovic visa hearing in Australia?
Channel News Asia ^ | 09 Jan 2022

Novak Djokovic is set for his day in court to challenge the shock cancellation of his visa over COVID-19 rules, which threw the world number one's Australian Open plans into disarray.

But unlike tennis, the online federal court hearing that opens at 10am (11am, Singapore time) on Monday (Jan 10) may not end with a simple win or loss.

DJOKOVIC WINS

If judge Anthony Kelly decides in favour of Djokovic, it would quash the cancellation of his visa, which would become valid again.

It would be a sensational victory for the vaccine-sceptic Djokovic and a dramatic setback for the Australian government, which has enforced strict COVID-19 controls at its borders for two years.

The Serbian star's legal team have set out what they want the judge to rule in this scenario.

In a 35-page submission ahead of the hearing, they called for his "immediate release" from detention no later than 5pm on Monday.

In this case, if the judge decides that Djokovic is deported...then the tennis match is not a ‘world-class’ event and will probably start a five-year decline for their tennis event.

Relocate to a friendlier location. How about Mexico City?

you have to wonder at some point the country where Djokovic starts accusing Australia of holding one of their citizens as a political prisoner.

If you don’t want Djokovic in the country, deport him, don’t hold him in a quarantine camp, by the time you admit him, he will be in no shape to perform in the Australian Open having not trained for 2 weeks or so.

It’s a disgrace what they are doing to him.

Actually, what is at stake is not whether a leading tennis player must comply with the lunacy of Australia.

What is at stake is whether the entire world should permanently shun the lunacy of Australia and treat the country as the irrational pariah it has chosen to become.

No sane nation can treat non-criminal outsiders as prisoners in an unjustified medical concentration camp and be taken seriously.

Australia has become a joke and they can make it permanent by further foolishness.

What is at stake is the end of Australia as a serious participant in the world.

If Australia kicks this champion tennis player out, the entire world should abandon Australia as lost to mass psychosis.

Here we have a supposedly advanced country treating nonsense as science.

We are watching the Australian government fly its airliner into a box canyon in a certain fatal collision

They are about to jump off a cliff in their collective madness.

The world is in the process of teaching Australia an unforgettable lesson.

Shouldn’t you be rounding up Aboriginals in the Northern Territory against their will?...

In fact, there are about 30% of the NT’s 250,000 population that are indigenous in 40 plus tribes. The few that were relocated into the facilities originally built for the Japanese LNG construction workers and donated to the NT in 2019 were approved by the Aboriginal Elders who the aboriginals follow, more than the local NT government.

Of course, Biden and his family are PRC puppets, thus the USA government is controlled by the PRC. Amazing to me that Biden approved the sub deal. I am sure many of you covert PRC supporters would love to see Taiwan and Oz taken over by the PRC. I wonder how many PRC supporters have infiltrated the FR.

Not like he hard up for money or anything. If I was him, I would have flat out withdrawn long ago.

He wants the all time record.
He’s #1 because he cares about winning.
I’m rather certain money isn’t what is driving him.

I’m not a big tennis fan so I have to reach for a sports analogy.... this would be similar to Aaron Rogers or Tom Brady entering the NFL COVID protocol the night before the Superbowl when they were scheduled to play. The Serbians (his home fans) are justifiably p*ssed.

I agree. Before covid, this was a no brainer. Now? I'm starting to have second thoughts. Hopefully they'll come out of it. Maybe they will. Time will tell.

Nice guy. You should do a bit more research on Australia since you have so many misunderstanding about it.
