Povidone Iodine (PVP-I) Oro-Nasal Spray: An Effective Shield for COVID-19 Protection for Health Care Worker (HCW), for all
Mostafa Kamal Arefin corresponding author
Abstract
SARS- CoV-2 or novel coronavirus enters in human body through nose and mouth, stays there for a while. Then binds with ACE2 receptor, enters inside cell, multiply there and manifests. Again, Polyvinyl Pyrrolidone or Povidone Iodine (PVP-I) is a strong microbicidal agent having 99.99% virucidal efficacy in its only 0.23% concentration, irrespective of all known viruses, even in SARS- CoV-2 (in vitro). An oro-nasal spray is designed to apply the PVP-I in nose and oral cavity to gain a protective layer or coating over nasal and oral mucosa, so that SARS-CoV-2 can’t bind with the ACE-2 receptor and prevent their entry inside. So, it will be effective for prevention of COVID-19. Moreover, as PVP-I has the ability for destruction of SARS-CoV-2, transmission of SARS- CoV-2 from patient will be reduced also. Thus PVP-I oro-nasal spray can act as an effective shield for COVID-19 protection for healthcare workers, for all.

Povidone iodine 10% (trade name is Betadine) is readily available OTC at the local pharmacy. (I picked up a bottle last week in the health/med area of my grocery store.) A 0.6% solution could be made by adding 6ml of 10% povidone iodine to 94 ml of water (sterile, distilled or boiled).

Recommended brand names?
Using CVS and distilled water. Had to mail order it. Couldn't find it on the shelf. Bought Betadine gargle from Canada for the lady.
Some of us are allergic to povidone iodine. There needs to be a warning about that.
I swear by a Povidone Iodine gargle, too. I've been using Betadine which is available on Amazon.
Both come in ready-to-use concentrations. No dilution with water is required.
Povidone iodine is available at walmart. You need to dilute it according to the instuction. (Do NOT use straight out of the bottle!)
That lady shows disdain for the netty pot.
1/2 tsp J&J Baby shampoo in nasal spray is another documented method
So there needs to be a warning on the betadine bottle to not use if you’re allergic to betadine? Okay👌

Thanks
Just bought on Amazon, pretty spendy at $25.00 for small nasal spray. But, learned my lesson about procrastinating...never could get Ivermectin. Yesterday ordered Black Cumin Seed Powder as a replacement for Ivermectin.
See my post 10 & 12 if you have allergies

Thanks
Later.
After you use it, and you sneeze, does the iodine stain your mask?
Also cofixrx, it is super expensive. Best to make your own with saline nasal wash and iodine
So far I react to all iodine, along with chlorine and fluoride.
Pools are out and fluoridated toothpaste.
