Anyone forcing Paperwhite (Narcissus) this winter? I forgot to buy some bulbs, and now it's too late. :( I am growing three Amaryllis, though - one is getting ready to bloom. 'Royal Velvet' 'Marilyn' and 'Picotee'.

I guess since we’re coming to the end of another week, I SHOULD post my Gardening Resolutions for 2022, Huh? ;)

Diana’s Gardening Resolutions - 2022:

Make USE of all the small twigs and branches I have in my tree-filled yard. Get myself a small, electric shredder and grind them up. Use as mulch and/or add to the compost pile.

Find another stack of asphalt shingles and finish off laying them between the raised bed garden boxes. This has worked really well - just need to FINISH it, now! (Mom’s BRILLIANT idea, last year!)

Set up another compost bin. We have two, but more is always better, Right?

Plant a peach and a cherry tree to replace the two that died. (Need TWO for fruit!)

Plant more herbs and dry them for winter use. My favorite combo that I use ALL the time is from The Spice House; ‘Parisian Shallot Herb Blend.’ See what ‘parts’ of it I can grow at home so I don’t have to pay for the whole blend.

Plant MORE pole beans for jar after jar of Dilly Beans. Yeah, they’re a PITA to stuff, but man are they WORTH the effort!

MORE flowers in my garden this season. In fact, TWO beds will be nothing BUT cutting flowers this season. I always MEAN to do that, and I LOVE having fresh flowers in the house, but food production has been winning out. I need more ‘food for the soul!’

Since any future PUPPIES are going to be moved to the BACK deck, and I am getting a GATE for the front porch when the new railings arrive next spring, I want to make the front porch more garden-like with tubs of flowers and herbs and a nice place for us to sit and relax. Yes, we have a back deck, but we are both ‘Front Porch People’ and prefer to look out on the garden and the rolling hills and the livestock and the trees and sky and clouds.

And lastly; LESS Tomatoes. Diana? You don’t NEED 32 tomato plants and you just about KILLED yourself last year canning them all...and I gave a LOT away, too! So, knock it off! ;)
