Two Rottweilers that were attacking a jogger in St. Charles are dead after the dogs’ owner and a man who intervened tried unsuccessfully to pull the animals off the woman until the man, who has a concealed carry license, fatally shot one of the dogs, according to the Kane County sheriff’s office.
“One had her by the leg and the other had her by the scalp,” he said. “Doctors had to use 6 feet worth of sutures to repair her body.”
The horrific attack began innocently enough, according to Hain. A Labradoodle made it past an electric fence and ran from its yard to where the woman was jogging “to greet her in the street,” officials said. The jogger and the homeowner were acquaintances and friendly with one another, so the woman stopped running, grabbed the Labradoodle by its collar and helped it back to its owner, who had been standing in her driveway watching the exchange.
That’s when the two Rottweilers came bounding out of that home and started to attack the jogger, Hain said.
But the man didn’t have a gun with him, Hain said.
“So he called his father, who was maybe a block away, and asked him to get his gun and bring it to him, which he did. I believe he put it in his car and the man retrieved it,”
“That’s why he came back to point-blank range and why he fired through the side of the dog. If he had tried to shoot from a distance or into the dog’s head, that would’ve struck the woman, so he was very tactical about the way that he deployed his weapon,”

Very bad for all involved.
“according to Hain. A Labradoodle”
Labra what?
We were thinking of getting an invisible fence for our dogs...until now.
It’s just a suggestion.
Part Labrador and part Standard Poodle. Pretty common these days.

then to need it and not have it.”
The owner should be shot.
We know that area, too. Thank goodness for CCL in Illinois and prayers up for the injured woman. She’s about to get a very large amount of money from that homeowner.

The jogger is lucky to be alive.
Two dogs that big can kill a person in seconds. Not minutes....seconds.
Throat, gut or femoral artery and it is over.
i see a lot of women with those dogs ... and most can’t handle them ...
Owner of labradoodle & two rots... female
Where did the male of the story come from?
I would guess that the two females are no longer on friendly terms.
If my dog goes after a deer or a squirrel, I don’t think an invisible fence will contain him. This is a horrible situation, and the owner was proactive, until the dog’s nature took over, imo.

I’ve used The Invisible Fence for 15 years. Works flawlessly. The problem is, in many cases, dog owners go on the cheap and use do it yourself electric fences, from Pet Smart, etc(and therefore are doomed to failure)
Have it professionally installed and you and your dogs will live happily ever after.
This is a big shame all around. Too bad the rotties’ owner did not bother to train them properly. A big dog which is untrained is a time bomb.
Not to mention that an invisible fence will not stop a coyote, wolf or other people’s dogs from entering your dog’s enclosure.
Forgive me for being callous. Just a couple of days ago someone remarked that if there’s need to shoot a vicious dog like a rottweiler, one is in a better legal position if someone has actually been harmed than if not.
Sorry for this lady’s injuries, hope she recovers quickly. The man deserves a generous reward, and perhaps a medal and a parade.
I prefer cats.
