That label at least comes with an implied promise of “protection”, with the added aspect of inspiring fear of all manner of mysteriously bad consequences among those who might imagine the possibility of raising a political, or even an actual, hand against you.

Harris hasn’t got that kind of mojo and probably never will.

I wish Kamala had done like Hillary and adopted her husband's surname--I don't like her tarnishing the Harris surname. I had Harris ancestors way back (the most recent one solved the problem by getting married).

I assume the Harris name originated as "son of Harry" (like Harrison) so not all families with the name are necessarily related. I don't know if her Jamaican father got the name from British ancestors but in any case I take comfort in the idea that any blood relationship is extremely unlikely.
