There is really only one answer that no one really wants to hear or do...

I don’t know that the attitude of the rest of us comes into play. Such places are going into the toilet. They are rotting whether we let them or not.
The writer seems to think that we can/should save these places. Can we? He also seems to think that everything is just slowly sliding away. It’s not. We already live in the first Mad Max movie (some moreso than others). This is not the 1970’s; we are not arguing over percentages of capital gains tax rates.
Nothing is going back to normal. Our rulers have destroyed the most prosperous culture ever because of a virus that kills a fraction of a percent of the people who get it. It’s only a matter of how fast it falls apart. The damage is done. It was done on purpose. Now, the question is what will emerge from the ashes. It won’t be the blue cities. They will burn first, and there’s nothing we can do about it.

Provocative article, but I’m not too keen for people to saddle up and and ride into a place like LA county to stop its descent into insane Marxism.
OTOH, he’s correct about individuals banning together, like in LA, where LA County Sheriff, Alex Villanueva, is refusing to carry out the diktats of the BLM sympathizers on the LA county board. He’s protecting the businesses and individuals who voted for him.
