Ube’ is a yam-like delicacy in the Philippines. Particularly the region of Baguio, which is a mountain city sort of like a mini Colorado. It was developed as a vacation city by the Americans during their early occupation of the country back in early 1900’s. Been there a few times.

Those in Manila would “always” asks any compatriot if they come back from Baguio to bring them ube’ because that’s the city which it originated from. For their popular desert called “halo halo” (translated as MIX MIX in English) if ube is NOT included, it aint halo halo’. That’s how good it is..
