The preference for lighter skin among Hispanics is not unique to our culture. I was once in a Mexican nightclub in Guadalajara many years ago, and out of the probably six-hundred people there that night, there was one blonde girl who, like a queen bee, was absolutely surrounded by a dense pack of males desperately seeking her attention.
George Catlin, in 1832, on his trip to the Mandans said some were so light skinned he was sure they were descended from Prince Madoc, a legendary Prince in Wales who sailed to a far off place and set up a Kingdom. Brown, Hazel and BLUE eyes were common among the Mandans.
