It has a cause because people are living longer.

The protege of the man who found bacteria causes ulcers found bacteria in Alzheimer’s plaques.
Now consider that stress makes the blood brain barrier permeable.
Or if the blood brain barrier is permeable.
Stress makes the blood brain barrier permeable.
Add to that a researcher found bacteria in Alzheimer’s plaques.
that could be part of the explanation but I considered it and am far from convinced it is the major reason
just my hunch but I think there must be an actual cause outside of people just living longer
and while alzheimers is certainly age=correlated, there are many victims that are not any older than folks lived a few generations back
we will see... just a hunch, thanks
certainly could be
we have been following the aluminum idea regarding alzheimers for many years
I am not saying it IS the cause but it seems to be significantly correlated with the rise in alzheimers disease
we will see...
anyway you can get started following this trail, if you are so inclined, by checking the articles cited here (there are many more going back many years)

“It has a cause because people are living longer.”
I think that is the biggest cause.

I agree with Mears that a longer lifespan leads to more Alzheimer's patients in our lives now. That's a big part of it and maybe there are other causes.
The medical profession has been trying to solve this problem since 1907 when Dr. Alzheimer discovered this disease.
I realize people in their 50s an 60s also get diagnosed with Alzheimers. Years ago in my lifetime old people who got a little wacky were dismissed as being senile or getting demented.
Today every body runs to the Doctors because of health insurance and their dementia gets a name - Alzheimer's, Lewey Bodies, Vascular dementia, etc. So it gets a name.
When I was a kid no one died from cancer, they died from "Consumption".
Now it has a specific name-Lung cancer- Brain cancer - Pancreatic cancer, etc . You would get the impression cancer is out of control.
Bottom line to me is we are living longer, and subject to more diseases , and our younger people are becoming hypochondriacs where their health is concerned. - Tom
still could be some cause too
such as maybe
1. aluminum
2. Big Macs
3. FaceBook
4. Nancy Pelosi lies
My aunt died of breast cancer in 1944…..and that’s what we called it.
My father died of TB and that was called consumption.
